Science week this week and we have been busy doing lots of experiments. Science is very important for children, it fosters curiosity, develops critical thinking and problem solving. It's great for language development and communication. I just love seeing the curious looks among them and the excitement while doing the experiments.

Another lovely week, it's great to be able to get outdoors, the children love the rain, the jumping in puddles, the picnic under shelter. We baked cookies, made playdough, lots of arts and crafts. We played with trucks and trains. Most importantly we had lots of fun

Baking is such a fun activity for everyone. The children just love it, a highlight of the week is baking on a Thursday. Baking is great for motor skills, communication, math skills, patience and turn taking and baking helps instil a healthier lifestyle. Since we started we have made blackberry jam, cookies, pizzas, pancakes and blackberry pies.
We will keep all our recipes and make a recipe book at the end of the year. A lovely keepsake

The hot air balloon championships are happening in Boyle so what better time to make our own hot air balloons. As the children informed me today
"When it's hot it goes up, when it's cold it goes down."

Another busy week, show and tell this week was the colour yellow. For cooking this week the children made pizzas. We were lucky to take part in a balance bike course. Spent lots of time outdoors playing, did some arts and crafts. We made volcano apples, great fun watching the volcanoes explode. Our favorite action song this week has been 5 little speckled frogs.

Outdoor time, over the last 3 weeks I have noticed the confidence in the children and progression to risky play. Risky play is so important, it develops crucial life skills like resilience, self confidence and problem solving. The children know when they can go higher, when they can hang off bars. I have noticed one of our first year preschoolers is now able to climb the steps whereas last week he needed assistance. The children's confidence is growing and friendships are forming
