We have been getting some calls and we want to reassure everyone currently using and those planning to travel with us that all of our Healthlink transport services will operate as normal this week. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters who held fuel for us we have plenty to see us through.

Blood is a vital need.

The Irish Blood Transfusion Service supplies are at a critically LOW LEVEL at the moment and they are URGENTLY appealing for donors!! 🩸🩸🩸

They are at their lowest level this year, with just over 2 days supply of O+ and just over 3 days for other key blood groups. ⚠️

They will be in next week from Monday 13th to Thursday 16th April inclusive. ..details on www.giveblood.ie

Dr Soffe - honoured to be featured in this weeks women in medicine network

Week 48: Dr Karen Soffe

Dr Karen Soffe has been working as a GP in Tralee since 2004. She is also a GP trainer and LARC trainer.

She has been a BMS accredited menopause specialist and trainer since 2020.
She provides training to GP trainees and GPs through the ICGP locally and nationally.

She was involved in setting up the Complex Menopause Clinic in Cork University and Maternity Hospital.

She is a board member of the Menopause Society of Ireland (MSI) and this year is heading up the Social Inclusion committee of the MSI. The aim of this committee is to support projects to ensure that quality menopause care and information is available to all.

Her project “Leaving no woman behind”, a collaboration with the Kerry Traveller Health and Development Project, aimed to improve access to menopause care in the Traveller population, won Best oral presentation at the British Menopause Society conference in 2024. Phase 2 of this project is ongoing.

Further work is planned with other vulnerable groups such as women in homelessness, women with intellectual disability and migrant women.

⚠️ Change to Samhain Chiarraí Procession Schedule Due to Weather Conditions ⚠️

Due to adverse weather currently affecting Tralee, and in the interest of public safety, this evening’s 5:00pm Samhain Chiarraí Procession will no longer take place as scheduled.

Instead, the procession will now form part of tomorrow evening’s Cailleach Chiarraí Awakening Spectacle, followed by a Fireworks Display. 🎆

Revised Programme – Monday, 27th October:
🕖 7:00pm – Parade departs from Moyderwell to Castle Street and onto Denny Street
🔥 7:30pm – Cailleach Chiarraí Fire Spectacle
🎇 8:00pm – Fireworks Display

The Irish Blood Transfusion Service is urgently seeking an additional 12,000 blood donations over the next four weeks as most blood groups have fallen to under three days of stock.
