The “Why” Behind My Work!

People often ask where my inspiration comes from…It always comes back to home.

Growing up on a small farm in rural Ireland shaped everything I create — the characters, the animals, the land, the stories woven into Irish history. I feel a constant pull to explore the essence of who we are and express that on canvas.

I’m especially drawn to old black-and-white photographs, quiet, frozen moments in time. I love reimagining them in bold, unexpected colour and texture breathing new life into the past and bridging it with the present.

Colour is everything to me. Heavy texture. Palette knife layers. Oils & cold wax. Acrylic built up with feeling. Colour brings emotion. Identity. Life. It says what words sometimes can’t.

I’m always learning, refining, evolving - but the heart of it stays the same:

I want my work to reconnect us with who we are. To celebrate Ireland — our resilience, warmth, humour and land and in the world we’re living in today, I think we need that more than ever.

✨ At Bríd Fanning Art, everything we create is rooted in Ireland — its people, its animals, and its landscape.

Bríd Fanning is a contemporary Irish visual artist from Oldcastle, County Meath, whose work explores the essence of Irish identity through bold colour, rich texture, and expressive movement. Working primarily in oils and cold wax, as well as acrylics applied with a palette knife, each original painting is part of an evolving artistic journey shaped by curiosity, learning, and a deep connection to place.

Inspired by the character and spirit of Ireland, Bríd creates original artworks alongside limited edition fine art prints direct to the consumer but also available to the retail market, bringing accessible pieces of Irish contemporary art into homes and spaces. Her handcrafted wax lanterns are all made in Ireland, combining art and atmosphere, celebrating craftsmanship and storytelling through light.

Hi, I’m Bríd 👋

With many new followers i think it’s time for a reintroduction. I’m an artist and designer based in rural Co. Meath, living in Ballinacree surrounded by green fields and stone walls. I live close to Loughcrew Cairns a neolithic passage tomb dating to 3000BC. I gain a lot of my inspiration from where I live having grown up here on a small farm.
After 20 years working as a graphic designer (in Ireland and overseas in USA and Australia), I returned home where I now live with my husband and our 3 boys. Even though I studied design, painting was always the quiet dream in the background. I spent time upskilling at NCAD, hoping that someday I might be brave enough to turn it into something more. I recieved great encouragement from my boss to follow my dream and “do what makes your heart sing!”

In 2020, I finally took the leap.

Since then, I’ve been slowly growing Bríd Fanning Art — creating original paintings, fine art prints and a small range of homewares.

I’m so grateful to have my work in homes here in Ireland and around the world, and I still feel like I’m only at the beginning of this journey. I’m humbled when I hear why collectors and customers connect with a piece as it’s such an honour to have something I made hanging in their home 🥰

That’s over for another year and what an experience! Exhausted but had should a great show. It was such an honour to have my piece “Here Come the Girls” chosen for the launch. Thank you for choosing my work. I’m so humbled. Thank you to all my existing stockists for calling by and to all my new ones I look forward to sending my artwork your way. Thank you for believing in me. 🥰 So excited to be stocked all around the country and some interesting international ones too. It’s going to be another busy year so thank you for all the support. A huge thank you to all at for offering me the opportunity again this year. It’s never taken for granted. It was such an honour to have been shortlisted for The Edit too. Thank you to for your continued support too. Thank you to for all the help with creating my stand. Thank you to Nationwide for showing my segment again from last year. I’m delighted to share that my new piece which I’ve just finished sold too over the weekend. Thank you to Meath Chronicle for the press coverage too. 🥳 One of my favourite things about Showcase is meeting up with all the other crafters/designers. Everyone is so supportive of each other. Here is my latest piece “The Boys are back in town” is now available to purchase on my website. I just finished it last week. It was launched at this weekend. One day to go. Another great experience so thank you for having me again this year.
