This patient was thrilled when we told her instantly with testing that she did not have a fungal nail infection. The appearance of this nail is as a consequence of chemotherapy. There are many other conditions that can also look like a fungal nail. Podiatrists can tell on consultation but sometimes we also require testing.
This avoids unnecessary treatment and expense that we often hear about from people when there is a misdiagnosis. (Patients consent given) ❤️

Hailing from beautiful Mayo (we promise we won’t hold that against her 😉), Dearbhla is not only passionate about helping people with their foot care — she also happens to have an All-Ireland medal in Camogie 🏅👏 (she didn’t tell us that part herself — modest much?).

When she’s not caring for patients, Dearbhla loves voluntary work, travelling, running, and spending time with her friends and family.

We’re so lucky to have her as part of the iStep team 💚
