I have always been fascinated by the heart…
It is the very first organ to form and start working in the embryo. Around the 22nd day after conception, it begins to beat… long before the brain is fully developed. But where does the impulse come from that makes it beat and keeps its rhythm steady?
Scientists have discovered that the heart is not just a mechanical pump. Embedded in its walls is a network of about 40,000 specialised nerve cells, known as the intrinsic cardiac nervous system. This tiny “heart brain” allows the heart to sense, process information, and even send signals to the brain. In fact, the heart sends more messages to the brain than the brain sends to the heart!
What’s even more remarkable is that the heart produces the strongest electromagnetic field of any organ in the body. This field radiates far beyond the physical body and plays an essential role in synchronising the systems of the body.
And there’s something even more fascinating: the heart’s electromagnetic field can overlap with the fields of other people who are close to us. This isn’t magic – it’s physics – but it may partly explain why we can sense another person’s mood or presence in a room, why we sometimes feel their vibe or not.
As a homeopath, I often see how the heart mirrors the whole person: their joys, griefs, and deepest longings. Homeopathy works gently to support the natural harmony of the body and mind, helping us come back into balance when life feels chaotic. When the heart and emotions are in tune, the whole being can flourish. Healing is not only about symptoms; it is about restoring flow, rhythm, and connection, both within ourselves and with the world around us❤️
