Hourly rate : 13.98 per hour

The House-keeping Assistant reports directly to the Services Manager.

Main duties include:

Carry out assigned and delegated tasks under the supervision of the Chef and Service Manager

Detail washing/dusting – including all low and high reach areas including fixtures, fittings, walls and vents throughout the building and exterior if necessary.

Floor Maintenance - including sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, scrubbing, polishing, and buffing throughout the building.

Bathrooms and wash facilities: - including toilets, hand basins, shower rooms, baths, tiles, sluice facilities and commodes. Ensure the correct hand washing and infection control requisites are in place in each area.

Textiles and Materials– including shower curtains, shower mats, separation screens in the bedrooms, mattresses, curtains.

Glass – including windows, mirrors and glass panes on doors.

Furniture – including tables, chairs, lockers, pictures.

Waste Removal – including waste from bedrooms, offices, general areas of the building both interior and exterior if necessary.

General Tidiness: - including polishing, arranging furniture and personal items, maintaining the plants, wheelchairs, walking frames, and responding to the housekeeping needs of the residents

Laundry Duties:

To work as part of a team to maintain a high standard of cleanliness of linen, towels and our residents’ personal clothing, and to ensure an adequate supply of these items at all times.

Sort washing into relevant groups, where applicable, and process it through the washer, drier and iron.

Bedding

Towels, Clients’ personal laundry, Tea towels

Keep clean and dirty linen separate within the laundry area. Manage name tag system for all residents clothing.

Any other task assigned

Experience

Essential: Previous experience (>1 year) as a House-keeping assistant.

Must be fluent in English.

Understanding of health and safety policy.

Qualifications

Essential: No educational qualifications are required.

Desirable: HACCP certified.

Garda Vetting / Police Clearance will be required for the successful applicant.

We are inviting applications for the position of Person in Charge (Care Manager). The appointee will undertake the role and responsibilities of the Person-in-Charge in line with the Health Act 2007, related regulations and standards published by the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA).

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the successful applicant will be required to lead a team of professionals while actively contributing to the development of the Nursing Home for our residents and staff. Be Accountable to the Head of Services – Care for the effective delivery of high quality care and Responsible to the Registered Provider for safe and compliant operation of our Designated Centre for Older People.

Must be a registered nurse (on, or eligible to be on, the live register of nurses maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland, NMBI)

Must have 7 years relevant post registration nursing experience

Must have (within the last 6 years) a minimum 3 years’ relevant experience, caring for the older person

Must have (within the last 6 years) a minimum of 3 years management/supervisory experience, including team leadership with resource planning and allocation at CNM level or higher

Must have the ability to communicate effectively with residents, relatives/visitors, employees, management and external bodies e.g. GPs, hospitals, HSE, HIQA, etc.

Must have post-registration qualification in Gerontology or Dementia Care and a

Post-registration qualification in healthcare management or equivalent

Experience of working in a JCI (Joint Commission International) accredited facility and an understanding of that process would be an advantage.

Staff nurse integrates accurate and comprehensive knowledge of ethical principles, the Code of Professional Conduct and the Scope of Professional Nursing Practice, in the delivery of care. Fulfils the duty of care in the course of nursing practice.

Qualifications

Essential:

· Nursing Qualification

· Registration with The Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).

· Knowledge of Residential Care legislation including HIQA’s National Quality Standards for Residential Care Settings for Older People in Ireland, JCI Standards and others as applicable

· Demonstrate sound knowledge of the care needs of older people including people with dementia.


Desirable:

· Post Grad in Gerontology or Dementia.
