Craniosacral Therapy

Craniosacral Therapy Bodywork therapy which addresses restrictions in the body Its primary focus is to maximise the efficient functioning of the Nervous system.

Its whole body approach relies upon a respectful communication and engagement with the innate intellligence of the bodys tissues in their drive towards self-correction and healing. Evaluation and Treatment is informed and guided by the expression of the CranioSacral Rhythm as it reflects throughout the body. This rhythm emanates from a core hydraulic system involving the cerebrospinal fluid that su

rrounds the brain and the spinal cord and the 3 encasing membrane layers as well as homeostaic mechanisms which together gives rise to a vibrant ebb and flow body movement. The Nervous system is truly where it is at, being the communication and control centre of the body. As therapists our developed palpatory sense allows us to detect compromised movement and flow and to then facilitate release via a gentle and effective therapeutic approach. The treatment is very much client led in so far as we are primarily interested in allowing the body 'to tell it's story', endeavouring to get the person out of their thinking mind and into their feeling body. This can be a major challenge for some, esp for those who live busy and demanding lifestyles or for those who simply find it difficult to' switch off'.The necessary time is therefore spent establishing a trusting connection to promote a relaxed state by simple attention to breath work and present moment awareness. Another feature of the work relates to uncovering and safely releasing emotionally held patterns of dysfunction/pain presentation.Supportive techniques are used such as dialoguing and image work to empower and guide the client in the process of SomatoEmotional release. As mentioned above as CranioSacral therapists we give great credence to the body's innate drive to self-protect and self-heal, engaging with it's intelligence and wisdom to facilitate ease and resolution. I am a registered CranioSacral Therapist, certified by the Upledger Institute Ireland and a current member of IACST. My other modalities are Reflexology and Bach Flower Therapy. My approach to bodywork is very much underpinned by my training and studies in Naturopathic Healthcare. My background as a Social Care worker has afforded me a wealth of experience in a wide range of working enviroments, namely Children's Psychiatric Services, Drug Rehabilitation and Intellectual Disability. The common emphasis focusing on providing support and empowerment in facilitating a persons ability to address specific challenges in their life.

I came accross a wonderful quote recently by the great Albert Einstein, which stated..'Look deep into Nature, then you will understand everything better.' Now he was one intelligent man.
There is an intrinsic fluid rhythm with the trees and plants of nature which is not so dissimilar to our own core body rhythm, the craniosacral rhythm which provides us with valuable diagnostic knowledge of what is going on in our bodies. Its primary focus is to maximise the efficient functioning of the Nervous system. Its whole body approach relies upon a respectful communication and engagement with the innate intelligence of the body’s tissues in their drive towards self-correction and healing. Evaluation and Treatment is informed and guided by the expression of the CranioSacral Rhythm as it reflects throughout the body. This rhythm emanates from a core hydraulic system involving the cerebrospinal fluid that surrounds the brain and spinal cord and the encasing membrane layers and homeostatic mechanisms which together gives rise to a vibrant ebb and flow movement. The Nervous System is truly where it is at given that it is the communication and control centre of the body. As therapists our developed palpatory sense allows us to detect compromised movement and flow and to then facilitate release via a gentle and effective therapeutic approach.

The treatment is very much client led in so far as we are primarily interested in allowing the body to ‘tell it’s story’ endeavouring to get the person out of their thinking mind and into their feeling body.
