This is a great technique to help with relaxation and to get you back to sleep if you wake during the night.
What is Jin Shin Jyutsu Finger Holding?
Jin Shin Jyutsu is an ancient Japanese healing art that uses gentle touch to harmonise the body’s energy. One of its simplest and most accessible practices is finger holding, a technique that involves gently holding each finger to balance specific emotions and support physical well-being.
🌟 How It Works:
Each finger in Jin Shin Jyutsu corresponds to particular emotions, organs, and energy pathways. By holding a finger with your opposite hand for a few minutes, you can help calm the nervous system, release tension, and restore emotional balance.
✋ The Meaning of Each Finger:
1. Thumb – Worry
Organs: Stomach, spleen
Hold the thumb to relieve overthinking, anxiety, and worry.
2. Index Finger – Fear
Organs: Kidneys, bladder
Helps ease fear, nervousness, and feelings of insecurity.
3. Middle Finger – Anger
Organs: Liver, gallbladder
Balances irritability, frustration, and rage.
4. Ring Finger – Grief
Organs: Lungs, large intestine
Supports the release of sadness, loss, and indecisiveness.
5. Little Finger – Try Too Hard / Effort
Organs: Heart, small intestine
Helps with self-esteem, feeling overwhelmed, and pretense.
🧘 How to Practice:
• Gently wrap the fingers of one hand around the opposite finger.
• Hold for 2–5 minutes, or until you feel a sense of pulsing or relaxation.
• Breathe slowly and deeply as you focus on the finger and the emotion it represents.
You can go finger by finger or just focus on the one you feel drawn to in the moment. Press the centre of the palm to bring balance.
