HEY, What Was Your Last Selfie?
In the digital age, selfies have become more than just images.
They are MIRRORS- Reflecting our emotions, identities,
and the stories we tell about ourselves.
When I was thinking about this photo challenge, I started scrolling through my photos, looking for my last selfie.
And here she is...
I didn’t even remember taking it.
When I saw it, I loved it at first sight. It felt me.
No filters, no adjustments - just a pure,
honest moment of presence.
I actually took it last week, I was waiting for the train.
That morning, I had good vibes. I was peaceful while driving to my studies in Jerusalem and listening to a podcast when suddenly, an Aha! moment landed, one of those insights that stays with you.
I had a big realization about SEEING, about how we experience vision, and how seeing unfolds into a journey where emotion, memory, culture, and society shape what we perceive. True seeing happens in layers, where the personal meets the collective, where the visible meets the felt.
Later, while writing this post, I rediscovered this image.
And now I understand. This photo captured that moment of realization, that internal shift.
And what’s even more powerful?
I took it at a train station—a literal and symbolic marker of transition, movement, and change.
Why Do We Take Selfies?
A selfie is more than a self-portrait. It’s a reflection of how we engage with ourselves and the world. Whether consciously or instinctively, we reach for the camera for different reasons:
💛 Self-expression – A way to explore identity, aesthetics, and emotion.
💛 Connection – A tool for visibility, engagement, and belonging.
💛 Memory-making – A snapshot of time, preserving emotions and milestones.
💛 Empowerment – Reclaiming agency over how we present ourselves.
But sometimes, a selfie is a subconscious act—an image we capture before understanding why. Only later do we realize the symbols, metaphors, and emotions embedded within it.
I went first.
NOW IT'S YOUR TURN.
I want to invite you to drop your last selfie in the comments and take a moment to reflect:
First, how do you feel about this invitation?
👀 What do you notice?
👀 Are there symbols, colors, or background details that add meaning?
👀 Does the image reflect how you felt at that moment,
or does it reveal something new?
👀 What deeper layers are there?
👀 Who or what else is in the frame?
👀 How do they shape the story of this moment?
💛 And most importantly—does this selfie feel like you?
👀 Do you feel comfortable being seen this way?
Let’s pause together—not just to look, but to truly see.
Yalla... EXCITING ABOUT YOUR SELFIES …
