An extraordinary birth took place this week at Hadassah Mount Scopus.
Ruhama, 24, gave birth to a healthy baby boy at the same hospital where she herself was born prematurely, weighing only 495 grams.

Twenty-four years ago, Ruhama’s mother developed severe pregnancy complications, and senior obstetrician Prof. Simcha Yagel delivered Ruhama by c-section at 24 weeks. She spent six months in the NICU and was discharged weighing 2.4 kg.

This week, the family came full circle as Ruhama gave birth to her first child, with Prof. Yagel, who had stayed in touch over the years, present at the delivery. The family described it as an emotional moment and “a true healing” of the difficult birth decades ago.

Prof. Yagel shared: “I followed her through life’s milestones and was honored to support her during this pregnancy. The delivery was smooth, and seeing her healthy baby—six times her birth weight, was deeply moving.”

Ruhama’s father added: “This birth felt like a real closure to the birth from 24 years ago. Ruhama is recovering, and we are overjoyed to welcome our first grandchild.”

A medical breakthrough from Hadassah Medical Center and Israeli startup PlasFree is reshaping how we treat bleeding.

Led by Prof. Abd Al-Roof Higazi, Director of Clinical Biochemistry and Laboratory Division at Hadassah, the team has developed ClearPlasma - the first solution of its kind to stop life-threatening bleeding by enhancing human plasma to create stable clots without side effects.

ClearPlasma has already received initial marketing approval from Israel’s Ministry of Health. Clinical trials conducted in Israel and Europe on 200 patients have shown exceptional results, and the product is now on its way toward CE approval, with FDA clinical trials already being planned.
Born in Jerusalem, ClearPlasma is on its way to becoming a life-saving innovation for operating rooms, trauma centers, and emergency care worldwide.

Admitting Patients from Soroka

The Hadassah hospitals in Ein Kerem and Mount Scopus, currently operating in emergency mode under the directive of the Ministry of Health and the Home Front Command, are preparing to receive patients from Soroka Medical Center, which was damaged in this morning’s missile attack.

This patient transfer is made possible thanks to intensive efforts at Hadassah to prepare the hospitals for scenarios involving mass casualty intake. This includes discharging patients who do not require hospitalization in order to free up capacity.

Hadassah is working in full coordination with the authorities and is ready to admit patients into protected areas as needed.

15/06/2025

On Friday night, under a real and present threat, Hadassah’s hospitals opened two underground complexes with 240 inpatient beds.
Dozens of staff members mobilized at lightning speed.
Patients from every department—children, infants, and ventilated critical-care cases—were transferred safely. Our teams worked with speed, precision, and a humanity beyond words.

From the very start of the war, we prepared for this moment:

Mount Scopus: an advanced, fully equipped subterranean hospital was built in the new Gandel Rehabilitation Building.

Ein Kerem: operating rooms function four floors below ground, enabling surgery even during missile attacks.

Prof. Yoram Weiss, Hadassah CEO:
“We activated the complexes within minutes. Teams rallied instantly, and everything ran in flawless order, driven by a deep sense of mission.”

Even in the toughest days, we will continue to heal, protect, and preserve human life.

14/06/2025

In accordance with the instructions of the Home Front Command and the Ministry of Health, Hadassah hospitals are operating in emergency mode.

Hadassah hospitals are receiving patients as needed, while the emergency rooms continue their normal activities.

Tomorrow, Sunday 15/6
Surgeries and urgent treatments (oncology, hematology, and others) that cannot be postponed will take place at Hadassah hospitals, including delivery room activity, which will continue as usual.

However, elective activities that are not urgent, including clinics, will not take place and notice will be sent to patients who have scheduled appointments.

Hadassah urges the public not to hesitate to come for treatment in urgent cases.

An artificial heart has been successfully transplanted for the first time in Israel, saving the life of a patient, 63, Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital says.

In a seven-hour surgery this week, the patient’s heart was completely removed and replaced with a totally artificial heart made of titanium, combined with biological tissues from animals and advanced sensors. To date, only 114 such surgeries have been performed worldwide.

“This is a major event in Israel, one that has never happened before,” says Prof. Ofer Amir, senior cardiologist and director of Hadassah’s Heart Institute, who led the operation.
