Ok, so last minute but instead of giving my masterclass on being a caregiver in Israel, I'm doing a 45 question and answer session on every question you had about being an (unpaid) caregiver in Israel.

So, if you're like me, and try to actively avoid the news, you may not have heard that the government is increasing minimum wage (again, like for the 3rd time in a few years) from 32 to 34 shekels per hour.

Which may not seem like a lot, but this means that minimum monthly wage will increase from 5,880 to 6,247 ILS for a full-time job. Which, again, is a good thing. This increase does have some interesting effects that you may or not be aware of.

1) For those of you who pay or manage the payment of a foreign worker, all benefits are based on the national minimum wage law, so a) make sure that you increase your monthly payments accordingly to put aside for pension b) note that the minimum payment you will make to bituach leumi will also increase (on the worker's behalf).

2) If you are receiving a stipend for disability, the amount of money that you earn and still keep your full stipend will also increase (7,990 gross ILS).

Not connected to minimum wage, but also super important is that of January 1, 2025 bituach leumi increased the disability stipend to 4,556 ILS. Maybe someday they will make it actual minimum wage. But, in the meantime, it is an improvement.
