As a parent, you want nothing but the best for your baby.
One of the most exciting moments in your little one's development is when they're ready to start trying solid foods. It's a big step, and you want to make sure you're doing it right.

Today some countries are celebrating national cherry day ( weird, I know, but it's really a thing).

So here's a friendly reminder-when your baby is born his/her little tummy is the size of a cherry.

Yes, a cherry, like 5ml, not the size of a 60ml bottle.

Your colostrum is just the right amount, and in the majority of cases, all baby needs.

Many moms supplement, in the early days, from fear that they don't "have enough milk" ( I had this with my first, I had no idea what was "normal", so when I only saw 10ml of colostrum after pumping I burst out crying that I didn't have enough milk and opted for a bottle of formula).

So remember- all you need is enough to fill a cherry size tummy- for that, you most probably have enough!

Sleep-

We all need it, and when we're recuperating from childbirth, it's one of the most important things on our mind.

Here's a friendly reminder that in the beginning, your newborn isn't going to sleep through the night. (Sorry, but I promise that day will eventually come!)

Your baby is behaving like a typical newborn if s/he's waking to eat every 1-3 hours day or night.

Double-tap if you're relieved to hear that your baby is NORMAL for waking up at night!

And again and again and again 🤣

Studies on infant feeding indicate, that it could take up to 20 times of seeing a certain food on the table, before they're willing to taste it.

And mind you, tasting doesn't equal eating.
So patience is the name of the game.

Let's talk newborn p**p!

I knew nothing about it when I gave birth to my oldest.

The first few days postpartum can be one big blur, so much to remember and keep track of.

Here's a simple guide to help you understand what's normal.

What else would you have loved to know when you had your first child?

As I write- only for the brave of heart 🤣

Self care
Such a big word.
The past few days I feel the need to slow down a bit, count my blessings and focus a little bit more on my family and close friends.
It's so easy to get cought up in the rat race of life.

Who can relate?

Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend.
שבת שלום!

It's been a difficult 2 weeks, and over the last few days I've received many messages from concerned mothers worried that their breast milk is drying up.

So first of all - know you're not the only one.
Secondly- BREATHE , just the act of taking a few deep breaths can help reduce stress , which reduces cortisol, a big player in milk production inhibition.

Purim is a great opportunity to teach our kids about enjoying food and sweets. When certain foods are "forbidden", it makes them all the more appealing, but if we're able to incorporate them in moderation, then they become "just another food".

****** edited- update and info regarding vaccine in ISRAEL in comments******

I was asked today regarding breastfeeding and the Covid-19 vaccine.
According to ACOG (The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists) who published a position paper 2 days ago -the vaccine should be offered to both pregnant and breastfeeding women.
