Can AI sense exhaustion before a pilot does? ✈️🧠

New research is changing the way we look at pilot safety.

The Problem: Fatigue causes 20% of accidents, but subjective reporting is often too late.

The Study: 90 pilots + wearable ECG sensors + Real missions.
The Science: Tracking HRV (Heart Rate Variability) to "see" exhaustion in the nervous system.

At IAsMA, we believe the future of the cockpit is physiological. If we can monitor the pilot as well as we monitor the engines, we save lives.

עם סיומו של כנס LUCA 2025, אנו מבקשים להודות לאופיר ליבודה על השתתפותו בכנס ועל היותו חלק מקהילת IAsMA ההולכת וגדלה שלנו.

בהרצאתו, שיתף אופיר בתהליך המורכב של פיתוח, ניהול וביצוע ניסויים מדעיים בחלל — מהרעיון הנוצר במעבדה על פני כדור הארץ ועד לניסוי פעיל בתנאי מיקרו־כבידה.

דבריו הדגישו את רמת הדיוק, התכנון והחשיבה המערכתית הנדרשים על מנת לבצע מחקר איכותי בסביבה קיצונית.

Following LUCA 2025, we would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Oren Milstein, CEO and co-founder of StemRad , and to the entire StemRad team, for being part of LUCA 2025 and of our growing community.

In his talk, “From Earth to Space and Back: 360 Gamma, AstroRad, and the Future of Radiation Protection,” Oren offered a powerful reminder that challenges on Earth and in space are often deeply interconnected - and that when solutions move between these environments, meaningful innovation happens.

His work demonstrates how technologies developed to address critical needs on Earth can evolve to protect astronauts in deep space, and then return with even broader impact on healthcare and human resilience worldwide.

This perspective lies at the heart of aerospace medicine.

We are proud to have leaders and teams like StemRad as part of the IAsMA community, helping shape the future of aerospace medicine in Israel.
