Last week at IASMA Journal Club we asked: what does 3 days in space do to your immune system?
Short answer: more than you'd expect - and it lasts longer than you'd think.
The Inspiration4 crew weren't professional astronauts. They were 4 civilians - trained for weeks, not years - chosen so scientists could study how a real human body responds to space.
Key finding: immune disruption persisted for months. Full recovery was never confirmed. Men recovered more slowly than women. And the patterns held up across multiple independent datasets.
Recording coming soon. Follow IASMA for the next session.
