Happy Independence Day to all…

To all the nurses, you're the unsung heroes who manages to keep even the most temperamental surgeons in line. Your ability to navigate tough situations with grace, keep the peace, and sometimes even manage the anger of our esteemed scalpel-wielding friends deserves a medal of its own.

And to all the nurse-moms out there, Happy Nurses Day and Happy Mother's Day! You're the ultimate multitasking queens, balancing medical charts with mommy duties like the absolute bosses you are even when the operating room feels like a circus!

Regards

Dr Amit Chandan

I am delighted to announce that we did first robotic cardiac CABG at Marengo CIMS Hospital. We did TECAB under proctorship of Dr Sudhir Srivastav. Special thanks to Dr Dhiren Shah for his guidance. The patient is doing well and on the road to recovery. Working on SSI Mantra was a great experience, and all the more special as it’s a Made in India robotic system.

Thank you to everyone involved in this achievement, from the surgeons, anaesthetists and nurses to the support staff. Your hard work and commitment to excellence continue to make a difference in the lives of our patients.

Dilated cardiomyopathy is a heart muscle condition that results in the thinning and enlargement of the heart's chambers, primarily the left ventricle, which is responsible for pumping blood.

This enlargement impairs the heart's ability to effectively circulate blood to the body. Initially, individuals with dilated cardiomyopathy might not experience noticeable symptoms, yet the condition can progress to a life-threatening stage and is a common cause of heart failure.

Symptoms of dilated cardiomyopathy, such as fatigue, shortness of breath, reduced exercise capacity, leg swelling, chest discomfort, or palpitations, may manifest.

Treatment options include medications, surgical procedures to implant devices that regulate heart rhythm or support blood pumping, and, in severe cases, heart transplantation.

Timely medical attention is vital for managing dilated cardiomyopathy and optimizing outcomes.

When facing a diagnosis of reduced ejection fraction (EF) below the normal which is 60% or less. Determining its underlying cause is of utmost important.

Tailored strategies are then implemented based on the diagnosis and symptoms to improve EF.
Often, medications like diuretics, ACE inhibitors, or other appropriate drugs can enhance EF.

Treating known causes which affect heart such as hypertension, diabetes, thyroid abnormalities, autoimmune disorders, and high cholesterol is crucial.

Managing fluid levels is vital as well.
Specific treatments, such as stenting or CABG for coronary artery disease, or valve repair or replacement for damaged valves, can improve EF. Interventional therapies like ICD or CRT are useful for correcting improper heart electrical signaling. And lastly lifestyle modifications and doing the right amount of physical exercise, contributes to improving EF.
