Polycystic o***y syndrome (PCOS) is a common hormonal disorder that affects women of reproductive age.
The symptoms of PCOS can vary from person to person, but some common symptoms include:
✅Irregular menstrual periods: Women with PCOS often have infrequent or prolonged menstrual cycles, or may even stop menstruating altogether.
✅Excess androgen levels: PCOS can cause the ovaries to produce excess androgens (male hormones), leading to symptoms such as acne, unwanted hair growth (hirsutism), and male-pattern baldness.
✅Polycystic ovaries: Women with PCOS may have enlarged ovaries with small cysts on the outer edges.
✅Weight gain: PCOS can make it difficult for women to lose weight, and weight gain is often a symptom.
✅Insulin resistance: Women with PCOS may have difficulty processing insulin, which can lead to high blood sugar levels and an increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
✅Mood changes: PCOS can cause mood swings, depression, and anxiety.
✅Infertility: Women with PCOS may have difficulty getting pregnant due to irregular ovulation.
