❌ The viral WhatsApp message claiming સુધીરભાઈ’s kidneys are available is FALSE and ILLEGAL!

🛑 Under the THOTA Act and Rules 2014, buying and selling kidneys is a CRIME punishable by law.

⏳ Kidneys can only be preserved for a few hours after retrieval — claims of “available kidneys” on WhatsApp are impossible!

👮‍♀️ Police investigations are ongoing for spreading this fraudulent message. Forwarding it is an offense under the THOTA Act and promotes illegal organ trade.

🌟 **Good news for vision and organ donation in India!** 🌟

The government has amended the Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues Rules, 2025 to make cornea (eye) donation and transplantation easier and more accessible across the country.

👁️‍🗨️ Corneal blindness is a leading cause of vision loss, impacting millions.

🎯 This amendment removes the mandatory requirement for **Clinical Specular Microscope equipment** at corneal transplant centres—an expensive and specialized machine used to assess corneal cell health. This removal eases infrastructure and cost barriers, especially for smaller and rural hospitals.

🩺 **Lack of Knowledge Among Authorization Committees Hurts Organ Transplant Cases** 🏥

In a heart-touching case, a 17-year-and-9-month-old boy living with his 37-year-old uncle in Goa was finally allowed by the Bombay High Court to donate a part of his liver after KEM Hospital refused to approve the live donation—without giving any reason.

⚖️ The court acted swiftly, directing the appellate authority to decide within 24 hours. The matter was heard, a report submitted, and based on its positive findings, the High Court ordered the hospital to proceed with the transplant—restoring hope and saving a life.

🚨 **A Wake-Up Call**

If one of India’s oldest and most reputed KEM hospital authorization committees can misunderstand or ignore the law, how many lives might be affected across the country? Each delay, each refusal, can mean the difference between life and death.

📚 **Time for Change**

Organ Transplant Authorization Committees must be empowered through proper education and training on India’s Organ Donation and Transplantation Law. Only awareness and compassion can ensure that no willing donor or deserving patient suffers due to ignorance or bureaucracy.

# 🤝 It was an additional honour to share the stage with PDG Anil Agrawal (RID 3056), who was my installation officer in 2016-17 during my presidency at RC Ahmedabad Metro (RID 3055), along with seven other PDGs from RID 3100 and Rtn. Rajesh Mittal from RC Delhi Manthan – ROG – BOD India head.
