I always wonder as a doctors or as fellow human beings do we need to be sympathetic towards our patients or we should be empathic . There is a very thin line , it may appear as jugglery of words but we all need to understand the meaning of these words . By sympathy we take pity on someone’s condition or may be think poor thing this shouldn’t have happened to him or her , this is what we do most of the times and move ahead with our thoughts . But this is not what a patient needs , what one needs is the realisation that we are with him in his suffering, he is not alone ,empathy is what we require , it has a lot of healing power....::://. Empathy is the first step towards faith , as faith can move mountains empathy can heal ...my heart and mind are both with my patients when I treat them . This has not come in a day but years of learning from my patients and lessons they gave me I may not be the best selling doctor but for sure I aim to becoming one who touches the lives of each and every patient who comes to me and make a difference to their lives ......
