LABRUM TEARS

Shoulder Labrum Tears
SHOULDER PAIN TREATMENT
The labrum is a soft fibrous tissue rim that surrounds the socket to help stabilize the joint and keep the ball centered in the socket.

Tears can be located either above (superior) or below (inferior) the middle of the glenoid socket.

SLAP Lesion
A SLAP lesion (superior labrum, anterior [front] to posterior [back]) is a tear of the rim above the middle of the socket that may also involve the biceps tendon.
A tear of the rim below the middle of the glenoid socket that also involves the inferior glenohumeral ligament is called a Bankart lesion.

Tears of the glenoid rim often occur with other shoulder injuries, such as a dislocated shoulder (full or partial dislocation).

Rehabilitation Program
In labral tears not-related to dislocation, surgery is not common as it involves 6 weeks full time in a sling and results are often variable.
Physiotherapy aims to stabilize the ball in the socket with the rotator cuff so even if torn, the labrum does not cause pain or reduce function. We can create your rehabilitation program to restore strength and mobility.

pressing the nerve.
5. Piriformis Syndrome - tight piriformis muscle
compresses the sciatic nerve.
6. Trauma / Injury - pelvic fractures, falls, or accidents.

Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction (TMJ)
Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction (TMJ) is a common but often overlooked condition that affects the jaw joint and surrounding muscles. It can cause pain, clicking, and difficulty in jaw movement, impacting daily activities like eating and speaking. At REHABXPERT physiotherapy Clinic, we specialize in treating TMJ dysfunction through advanced techniques, including intraoral manual therapy, and acupuncture.

What is TMJ Dysfunction?
The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) connects your jawbone to your skull, allowing movement for talking, chewing, and yawning. Dysfunction in this joint can lead to symptoms such as:

Jaw pain or tenderness
Clicking or popping sounds
Limited jaw movement or locking
Headaches and ear pain
Neck and shoulder discomfort

TMJ dysfunction can result from stress, teeth grinding (bruxism), poor posture, or trauma. Fortunately, physiotherapy offers effective treatment solutions. Due to the role of the trigeminocervical nucleus, we will often assess and treat the upper cervical spine region to assist with pain relief associated with TMJ disorders.

Patients are often surprised to find out that physiotherapists can treat TMJ disorders, but the temporomandibular region consists of joints, muscles, ligaments, tendons and nerves like any other body region. Therefore, we approach treatment to this region like we would with any other body region โ€“ reduce pain, increase mobility, increase strength, increase function and reduce recurrence. Some techniques require internal access to the temporomandibular region, which patients often remark is similar to when they visit a dentist.

Hands-in-Mouth Therapy for TMJ
One of the most effective physiotherapy techniques for TMJ is hands-in-mouth treatment, also known as intraoral manual therapy. This specialized technique involves:

Gentle manual manipulation of the internal jaw muscles, such as the masseter, temporalis, and pterygoid muscles.
Releasing muscle tension and improving jaw alignment.
Reducing pain and restoring proper jaw function.
Our physiotherapists are highly trained in this technique, ensuring a safe and comfortable experience while addressing the root cause of TMJ pain.

Acupuncture for TMJ Relief
Acupuncture is another effective treatment for TMJ dysfunction. It involves the insertion of fine needles into specific points to:

Reduce muscle tension and inflammation.
Improve blood circulation to the jaw area.
Stimulate the bodyโ€™s natural pain relief mechanisms.
Acupuncture is a great complement to manual therapy, helping to provide longer-lasting relief and relaxation.

How We Can Help
At REHABXPERT Physiotherapy Clinic, we provide a personalized treatment plan tailored to your needs. Combining manual therapy, acupuncture, and self-care exercises, we aim to relieve TMJ pain and restore normal jaw function.

If you are struggling with TMJ symptoms, do not suffer in silence. Book an appointment today with our Senior Physiotherapists.

Osteopathy
Osteopathy is a system of diagnosis and treatment for a wide range of medical conditions. It is a manual therapy approach which works with the bodyโ€™s natural mechanisms to promote healing, and is based on the theory that our health and well-being relies on our skeleton, muscles, ligaments, and connective tissues functioning smoothly together.

At REHABXPERT Physiotherapy Clinic, our Registered Osteopath uses a combination of joint manipulation, soft tissue release, and stretching of the musculoskeletal system that have consistently delivered excellent results for her patients .

Our bodies have inherent self-healing mechanisms that can become impaired by the effects of chronic postural strains, traumas, or just everyday stress. Osteopathy aims to restore, encourage, and enhance these physiological mechanisms to aid reconvert and wellbeing.

Visceral Osteopathy
This is a form of osteopathy which treats the bodyโ€™s organs in order to rectify neurological or physiological disharmony.

Our organs are fed by nerves coming from the spine; these can sometimes become aggravated because an organ is under strain. Providing that there are no underlying conditions (illnesses), these organs can be very gently released to help reduce symptoms.

Visceral Osteopathy is particularly helpful for:

Bloating
Menstrual issues
Digestive issues
IBS
Constipation

Who We Treat
Osteopathy patients include the young, older people, manual workers, office professionals, pregnant women, children, and sports people. Patients seek treatment for a wide variety of conditions, including back pain, changes to posture in pregnancy, postural
problems caused by driving or work strain, the pain of arthritis and minor sports injuries.

Our osteopath is also qualified to carry out the Epley maneuver for the treatment of vertigo.

Osteopathy is all about helping your body do what it does bestโ€”heal itself! By improving mobility, boosting circulation, and easing tension, osteopathy enhances your bodyโ€™s natural ability to recover and function at its best.

Itโ€™s a go-to therapy for:
Musculoskeletal pain โ€“ from sports injuries to everyday aches
Lower back pain โ€“ say goodbye to that nagging discomfort
Neck and shoulder tension โ€“ whether itโ€™s from stress or too much screen time
Arthritis โ€“ keeping your joints happy and mobile

Postural issues โ€“ because slouching at your desk has consequences

Letโ€™s be honestโ€”modern life isnโ€™t always kind to our bodies. Hours of driving, sitting too much, pregnancy, and even bad movement habits can lead to pain and discomfort. Thatโ€™s where osteopathy comes in!

But hereโ€™s what makes it truly fascinating: everything in your body is connected. When one system is out of balance, it can affect others in surprising ways. Thatโ€™s why Osteopathy isnโ€™t just about treating painโ€”it can also help with:

Digestive issues โ€“ because your gut and posture are more linked than you think
Headaches & migraines โ€“ tension relief can work wonders
Menstrual discomfort โ€“ supporting your body through its natural cycles
Fibromyalgia โ€“ helping to ease chronic pain and improve mobility
Asthma & breathing issues โ€“ because rib and diaphragm movement matter
IBS & gut health โ€“ restoring balance for a happier digestive system

Whether youโ€™re dealing with everyday aches or more complex health challenges, Osteopathy can be a powerful tool in your wellness toolkit. By addressing the root causesโ€”not just the symptomsโ€”it helps your body function at its full potential.

Feeling out of balance? Maybe itโ€™s time to give your body the care it deserves!

Home Visits
Your recovery starts here...

Home Visits
At REHABXPERT Physiotherapy Clinic we appreciate that treatment in a home setting is sometimes necessary or simply preferred by our patients, particularly those with mobility problems or long-term conditions affecting their mobility and confidence.

Physiotherapy in the home can be helpful if a patient is having difficulty with daily activities like walking, climbing stairs, or getting in and out of bed, or while recovering from a fall, suffering from balance problems, or after surgery which has impacted their mobility.

We are happy to visit patients in their private residence as well as, with permission, within nursing or care home settings.

Your Appointment
Neurological Physiotherapy also lends itself to home physiotherapy and we have a proven record of providing treatment for patients with Parkinsonโ€™s Disease, MS, or recovering from Stroke.

We welcome the presence of relatives, spouses, or careers during these sessions, when appropriate, as their input and help is often very valuable. In some cases, we can help teach those individuals techniques that will help aid your recovery or ongoing maintenance.

Domiciliary visits can also be arranged for Podiatry Services.
