LIVE IN THE WAY OF AYURVEDA - Follow the path of Ayurveda to lead a healthy life :-

1) Waking Up - Ideal time to wake up is before 45 minutes of sunrise as well as Brahma muhurta. Benefits of wake up in early morning has been described briefly in previous post of BRAHM MUHURTA JAGARAN.

2) Drink Warm Water - Take luke warm water or dawn water (ushapan) after waking up is a healthy habit, helps in flushing toxins (ama) in body and cleanses our intestines. If the water is stored in copper vessel overnight, you will get better benefits.

3) Evacuation / Stool & Urination - If pressure comes expel out body f***s and urine. Alternate nostril breathing may also help. After evacuation wash the a**l or***ce with warm water, then the hands, face and legs with soap.

4) Cleansing of Eye - Put water in mouth and take eye washable water at your folded palm (ANJALI) at the time of eye wash and drop the mouth water after wash
Tridoshic eyewash: try triphala eyewash -¼ tsp. in 1 cup water, boil for 10 minutes, cool and strain.
Pitta eyewash: use cool water or rose water from organic rose petals - most commercial rose water has chemicals in it that will sting the eyes.
Kapha eyewash: try diluted cranberry juice, 3-5 drops in a teaspoon of distilled water.

5) Cleansing of Teeth / Dantadhaban - Brushing your teeth daily in morning and bedtime with Tejavati, Babul, Neem, Karanja, Madhup according to different seasons or toothpaste. You may clean your teeth after every heavy meal which will protect your teeth for a long time. Roasted almond shell powder can be used for vata and kapha, and ground neem for pitta. Always use KATU,TIKTA & KASHAYA toothpaste or powder.

6) Cleansing of Tongue - After cleansing of teeth scrap your tongue at one way with stem bark of above said herbs or tongue cleaner. Vata can use a gold scraper, Pitta a silver one, and Kapha copper. Stainless steel can be used by all people. Bacteria, dead cells are removed by tongue scrapping and improves oral health and sense of taste also.

7) Gargle / Gandusha - Rinse your mouth with oil or kwath or juice for 1-2 minutes and thrown away. This process pulls out oral toxins and rejuvenate the oral cell.

Dhumrapan - Take dhumpana according ritu, prakriti and doshas like haridra, bacha, ela etc.

8) Take a gold, silver or any other metallic vessel filled with ghee (cows ghee) and watch for 5 minutes with relaxing mind.

9) Collyrium / Anjana - Anjana is paste made with herbs is to be applied at inner part of eyelids. It is used to protect eye and maintain good eye health and vision.
Sauviranjanan can apply daily but Rasanjana should applied every 5 or 8 days in night only.

10) Nasya / Nasal Application - Drop 2 - 4 drops of oil/taila like anu taila, shadbindu taila, ksheerbala taila, til taila (sesame oil), nariel taila (coconut oil) or ghoghrita (cows ghee) at each nostril at empty stomach in morning. Nasya should taken at lying posture and keep a thin pillow under neck. Oil or ghee should little warm.
For vata: sesame oil, ghee, or vacha (calamus) oil.
For pitta: brahmi ghee, sunflower or coconut oil.
For kapha: vacha (calamus root) oil.

11) Karna Purana / Oil Pulling in Ear - Conditions such as ringing in the ears, excess ear wax, poor hearing, lockjaw, and TMJ, are all due to vata in the ears. Putting 5 drops of warm sesame oil in each ear can help these disorders.

12) Kshaur Karma/ Cutting of Hair, Beard, Nail - Minimum 3 times in 14 days.

13) Asana / Exercise - Perform exercise as well as yogasanas till shortness of breath. This should not performed by children and old age person.
Vata: Sun salutation x 12, done slowly; Leg lifting; Camel; Cobra; Cat; Cow. Slow, gentle exercise.
Pitta: Moon salutation x 16, moderately fast; Fish; Boat; Bow. Calming exercise.
Kapha: Sun salutation x 12, done rapidly; Bridge; Peacock; Palm tree; Lion. Vigorous exercise.
After exercise, sit quietly and do some deep breathing exercises as follows:
12 alternate nostril breaths for vata;
16 cooling sh*tali breaths (curling up your tongue lengthwise and breathing through it) for pitta;
100 bhastrika (short, fast breaths) for kapha.

14) Intake of Decoction / Kwath Pana - Kwath is decoction of a single or multiple herbs, should drink at morning. It eliminates various doshas from body. There has various kwath described in ayurveda text according to disease and season.

15) Abhyanga or Udwartan / Oil or Dry massage - Before bath, medicated oil or sesame oil should applied over whole body and massage gently for 30 minutes. Massage may performed by using powder herbs also. Then hot water steam should applied over body for 5-7 minutes. Instead of steam one may sit at sunlight. Hot water steam should not applied at feet, chest and eye. Oil massage improves internal circulation of blood, provides lubrication for all joints and tissues.

16) Bath & Refreshment / Snana - This is a daily practice removes malas from skin. Bathing improves agni (digestive power), provides health, longevity, and enhances sexual drive, energy and strength. It removes kandu (itching), mala, shram (fatique), sweda (sweat), lethargy, trishna (thirst), daha (burning sensation). Pouring warm water below the neck while bathing gives strength to the body. Little warm water for body and normal water for head as warm water is bad for eyes and hairs.
One should not take bath in next three hours after having food. Bathing after having a meal leads to indigestion, nausea, and abdominal discomfort.
Wear clean clothes after bath which brings virtue.

Using natural scents, essential oils, or perfumes brings freshness, charm, and joy. It gives vitality to the body and improves self-esteem.
For vata the best scent to use is hina or amber.
For pitta try using sandalwood, or jasmine.
For kapha use either amber or musk.

17) Prayer & Spiritual Practices - MANTRA, the sound of the word never gets ruined and that it has an everlasting value.
After prayer touch the ground with your right hand, then the same hand to the forehead, with great love and respect to Mother Earth.
In Ayurveda, Mantra is often used to balance the doshas – Vata, Pitta, and Kapha.
You may practice spiritual practices and meditation as your own way with a pure mind.
Hawan or Yagna is a very important practice which creates positive urges and the fire & smoke kills germs in house. Fire of Yagna have to burning at the direction of east or north.

18) Ahara / Having Meal - Ideal time to take meal is 11 am to 1 pm or PITTA KALA. We should take two part solid food, one part liquid food and one part should remain empty for vata. For balancing Tridosha BIBHITAKI may take before meal, AMALAKI in between meal and HARITAKI after meal.

Acharya Charaka has advised some qualities of food are as a)Ushnamashniyat(consuming warm food) b) Matravatashniyat(Balanced Diet ) c)Jeerneashniyat (Meal taken after digestion of previous meal) d)Veeryaviruddhamashniyat e)Naativilambitamashniyat (Not eating too slowly) f)Ajalpanahasan tanmanabhunjeet (Eating
without talking or laughing, mindful eating) g)Atmanamabhisamikshya bhunjeet samyak ( Eating after a**lyzing one’s needs) h)Snigdhamashniyat (Diet should include fat) i)Ishtadeshe ishtasarvopkarnam chashniyat (Meal taken at proper place and with proper instruments) j)Naatidrutamashniyat (Not eating too fast)

Not to do-
Eating when not hungry, Eating soon after meal, Eating at the wrong time of the day, Eating incomplete food combinations, Overeating,Eating too much heavy too little light food, Eating hurriedly, Emotional eating, Eating food one cannot digest, Eating when constipated, Drinking cold or chilled water, especially during meal, Too much water or no water at all during a meal, Preserved and stale food, Frozen food, Too spicy, sour, salty food.
According to Sushrutacharya, Achokshyam (dirty), Dushta (affected by poison etc.), Utsrutam (left over), Pashana-truna-lashtavata (containing stone, grass and dust), Dwishta (disliked), vyush*tam (stale), Aswadu (unpalatable) and Puti (putrified food) should be discarded. Chirsiddham (Food which is cooked long before) ,Sthira (hard),Sheetam (cold), ushnikrutam puna (reheated), Ashantam (incompletely strained) and Upadagdham(over burned) is not palatable (loses its natural taste) and as such should be discarded.

Examples of incompatibility/antagonistic (Viruddha-Aahara)

Veerya Viruddha (potency incompatibility) - fish + milk.
Sanskar Viruddha (processing incompatibility) - heated honey.
Matra Viruddha (dose incompatibility) - honey + cow's ghee mixed in equal proportion.
Krama Viruddha - hot water after taking honey.
Kala Viruddha - (time incompatibility) pungent substance in summer and cold substances in winter.
Krama Viruddha (order incompatibility) - consuming curd at night. Taking Madhura Rasa food or Dravya at the end of meals and Tikta and Katu Rasa Dravyas (food substances) at the starting of meals.
Samyoga Viruddha (combination incompatibility) - fruit salad or milk + banana.
Parihar Viruddha (contraindication incompatibility) - consuming cold water immediately after having hot tea or coffee.

19) Post Meal Activities - Until your meal digested, you have to sit like king upto 45 minutes to 1 hour. Walking of 100 steps after sitting is also helpful to convert food to energy.
Sleeping in daytime is strictly prohibited for healthy life except children, old age and diseased person. In Grishma ritu (summer season) you can take a little nap to manage tiredness. Everyone should consume at least one seasonal fruit daily 2 hours after having meal.

20) Mood Relaxing - Practicing Classical music, instrumental music, devotional music, Gardening, Indoor game or outdoor game (if possible) provides you a additional benefit to your mind and body.

21) Dinner - Dinner should take before 8 pm and should be light and easily digestive. You may drink godugdha (cows milk) with haldi (turmeric) after 1 hour of dinner. Curd should not eat at night.

Dinner should complete before 2 hours of sleep at night. If you take your dinner at 7.30 pm you have to sleep between 9:30 to 10 pm. At the time of sleep you should remind all your works, activities during the whole day and remember your adorable.
Bed should have height of your knee height and clean-tidy for safe and sound sleep.

Brahmamuhurta Jagaran - Benefits of waking up in Brahmamuhurta :-

Brahmamuhurta is the time to create yourself in a new way. Awake period between 3:30 am to 5:30 am is suitable for meditation. After whole night sleep, the mind is refreshed, calm and serene. There is the preponderance of sattva or purity in the mind at this time as well as in atmosphere.

More preciously, 1 hour 36 minutes before sunrise is considered as creator's hour. Each muhurta lasts 48 minutes and ends before 48 minutes of sunrise. The time of sunrise varies each day, according to geographic location and time of year. Thus the Brahmamuhurta time also varies.

Trodosha kala is associated with times like
Sunrise to 10 am - Kapha kala
10 am to 2 pm - Pitta kala
2 pm to Sunset - Vata kala
6 pm to 10 pm - Kapha kala
10 pm to 2 am - Pitta kala
2 am to 6 am - Vata kala

The nature of planets relationship with sun and moon is such that certain physiological changes happen in human system at Brahmmuhurta. The entire body is in a certain conductive atmosphere and there is a natural production of what is called melatenin (mood stabilizer), which secreates from pineal gland. We want to make use of this because the pineal gland is secreting at its maximum during Brahmmuhurta.

As you get up from bed, do JAPA & MEDITATION. Then you can take to the practice of ASANA, PRANAYAMA & Study of The GITA or other religious books. SURYANAMASKARA can be used in ritual cleansing practice that uses the mind states associated with Vata.
Every SANDHYA time or dark is also favorable for meditation. In this time you will enter into deep meditation & samadhi without much effort when Sushunma Nadi flows. When the breath flows through both nostrils, know that the Sushunma is working, then sit for meditation and enjoy the inner peace of souls.

Repeat some divine Stotras, Hymns or Guru Strotras or chant OM 12 (twelve) times before you start your Japa & Meditation. This will quickly elevate your mind and drive off laziness and sleepiness. Do Sirshasana or Sarvangasana or any other asanas for 5 to 10 minutes, Pranayama for 5 to 10 minutes.
With practicing meditation vigorously enjoy the bliss of inner self.

During this difficult time people are facing some kind of mental or psychological disturbances especially aged persons. Wake up in early morning provides you the positive frequency, strengthen your minds and urges.

AYUSH Guidelines
(Immunity Boosting Measures for Self Care)
Ministry of AYUSH recommendations, based on Ayurvedic literature & scientific publication, for preventive health measures and boosting immunity with special reference to respiratory health.

Measures for enhancing immunity:-
1) Drink warm water throughout the day.
2) Daily practice of Yogasana, Pranayama & meditation for atleast 30 minutes.
3) Spices like Haldi(Turmeric), Jeera(Cumin), Dhania(Coriander) & Lasun(Garlic) recommended in cooking.

Simple Ayurvedic Procedures:-
1) Nasal Application - Apply Seasame oil/Coconut oil or Ghee in both the nostrils(Pratimarsh Nasya) in empty stomach in morning and evening.
2) Oil Pulling Therapy - Take one tablespoonfull Seasome or Coconut oil in mouth. Do not drink, swish in mouth for 2-3 minutes and spit it off followed by warm water rinse. This can be done once or twice a day.

Ayurvedic Immunity Enhancing Tips:-
1) Take one teaspoonful Chyavanprash (10gm) in the morning. Diabetics should take sugar free Chyavanprash.
2) Drink herbal tea/decoction (Kwath) made from Tulsi(Basil), Dalchini(Cinamon), Kali mirch(Black pepper), Shunthi(Dry ginger) & Munakka(Raisin) - once or twice a day. Add jaggery(Natural sugar) and/or fresh Lemon juice to your taste, if needed.
3) Golden milk - Half teaspoon Haldi(Turmeric) powder in 150 ml hot milk - once or twice a day.

Actions During Dry Cough / Sore Throat:-
1) Steam inhalation with fresh Pudina(Mint) leaves or Ajwan(Caraway seeds) can be practised once in a day.
2) Lavang(Clove) powder mixed with natural sugar/honey can be taken 2-3 times a day in case of cough or throat irritation.
3) These measures generally treat normal dry cough and sore throat. However it is best to consult doctors if these symptoms persist.

MUDRAS

Mudra is the science of hand and finger postures. It can help to cure bodily ailments in a wonderful manner. It affects the body's energetic system & the flow of prana (life energy) within it. It actually helps in balancing the five elements (panch tattva) in the human system to their optimum level. If the Mudras are practiced regularly, definite health benefits will be manifested. Anyone can do this practice anytime, anyplace - in the bus, train, car, office or at home.
There are many types of Mudra used in Indian classical dance; over 200 mudras in Bharatnatyam, over 250 in Mohiniattam. Mudras are also used in Spiritual ptactice.

1) GYAN MUDRA(Mudra of Knowledge)

This mudra is considered to bestow Intelligence and wisdom.
Procedure: Touch the tip of the index finger, with the other fingers extended.
Effect: Enhances knowledge. The tip of thumb has centres of pituitary and endocrine glands. When these centres are pressed by the index finger the two glands are stimulated.
Duration: There is no particular time duration for this mudra. Practice by sitting or lying in bed whenever possible.
Benefits : Increase memory power and sharpens the brain, enhances concentration and prevents insomnia. If it is practised regularly, it will cure psychological disorders, such as hysteria, anger, depression. Cures intoxication and addictive habits.

2) PRITHVI MUDRA (Mudra of Earth)

This mudra helps to balance the earth element in our body.
Procedure: Tip of the third finger touches the tip of thumb, with the other three fingers extended.
Effect: It reduces all physical weakness.
Time duration: No particular duration, practice it anytime.
Benefits : Helps to increase the weight of weak people, improves complexion if skin and makes the skin glow. Increase tolerance and patience, also helps who practice spiritual meditation.

3) VARUNA MUDRA (Mudra of Water)

Balances the water element in body.
Touch the fore part of the smallest finger to the fore part of thumb
Effect: It balances the water content and all diseases which comes due to lack of water.
Duration: No time duration.
Benefits: Retains clarity in blood by balancing water content in our body, prevents the pains of gastroenteritis and muscle shrinkage. Beneficial in controlling cough, cold, asthma, paralysis, vibration, sinus and low blood pressure.

4) VAYU MUDRA (Mudra of Air)

This mudra helps to bance the air element in body.
Procedure: Keep the index finger on the base of the thumb and press with thumb keeping the other three fingers extended.
Effect: It prevents all the diseases that occur due to imbalance of air as well as Vata dosha.
Duration: Practice this mudra for 45 minutes in 12 to 24 hours to reduce severity of roga's. For best result practice it for two months.
Benefits: It cures rheumatism, arthritis, parkinson's disease, facial paralysis(cerebral palsy), cervical spondylosis, pinched nerves in neck. Also effective for the disorders of stomach.

5) SHUNYA MUDRA (Mudra of Emptyness)

Shunya means Sky that is connected with the highest forces - with the 'Upper Person' - with head.
Procedure: Keep the middle finger at the mount of Venus and press it with thumb.
Duration: 45 minutes to 1 hour daily at a stretch for optimum results.
Benefits: It relieves an earache within 4-5 minutes. Useful for deaf/impaired hearing and mentally challenged (not for inborn ones). Also helps in nausea, vertigo and travel sickness.

6) SURYA MUDRA(Mudra of Sun)

Surya(sun) is the source of energy. Virtue of its energy is present in all living beings. Surya mudra attracts energy of sun.
Procedure: Bend the third finger and press it with thumb
Effect: It sharpens the centre in thyroid gland.
Duration: 45 minutes daily or 15 minutes X 3 times (there should gap of 2 hours from taking meal). Avoid it during fever.
Benefits: Reduces cholesterol in body, helps in weight reduction, reduce anxiety. Useful to correct digestive disorders. This mudra decreases Earth element in body.

7) PRANA MUDRA (Mudra of Life)

Procedure: Bend the third finger and touch the tip of thumb with the finger tips, keeping the remaining two fingers (index and middle) extended.
Effect: It improves power of life who are weak. Reduces clamps in blood vessels. By practising this mudra regularly, the individual will become active.
Duration: No particular time duration.
Benefits: Improves immunity, the power of eyes and eye related disease. It also removes fatigue.

8) APANA MUDRA (Mudra of Digestion)

Procedure: The tips of the middle and third touch the tip of thumb while the other two fingers (index and little) are extended.
Effect: This mudra plays an important role in general health as it regulates the excretory system.
Duration: 45 minutes ; however longer practice times may yield greater benefits.
Benefits: Regulates diabetes, cures constipation and haemorrhoids, helps excreting the normal waste regularly.

9) APANA VAYU MUDRA (Mudra of Heart)

Procedure: The tips of the middle finger & the third finger touch the tip of thumb, while the index finger touches the base of thumb and the little finger is extended.
Effect: It benefits the heart, reduce the possibility of angina and heart attack. Also balance vata content in body.
Duration: Practice this mudra as many timed as possible. Heart patients and hypertensive patients should practise it at least 15 minutes X 3 times daily for best results.
Benefits: It strengthens heart and regularizes palpitation. Also regulates excretory system. It redeems gastric troubles.

10) LINGA MUDRA (Mudra of Heat)

Linga or Angustha means 'Phallus'. Thumb is a symbol of masculinity.
Procedure: Inter lock the fingers of both hands and keep the thumb of the left hand vertically straight and encircle it with the thumb & the index finger of the right hand.
Effect: It generates heat in body. For added benefit take cows milk(godugdha), ghee (traditional Indian clarified butter used for cooking), more spring water and fruit juice(swaras).
Duration: Should moderately practised, if excessive practised, this mudra cause sweating, even in winter.
Benefits: Burns away accumulated phlegm in the chest, it also makes the body resilient to the cold, cures severe cold and bronchial infection. It invigorates the body, increase dynamism in a person. Burns unwanted calories in body, helps to reduce obesity.
Person with bilious temperament should practice this mudra under the guidance of able and experienced person.

Soap & Water or Sanitizer
(Stay safe from COVID-19)

Soap is one of the most effective way to clean hands.
Soap contains fat like compounds called amphiphilies, which are similar to the lipids found in the virus membrane. When soap comes into contact with these fatty substances, it bind with them and causes them to disconnect from the virus. It also forces the virus to disengage from skin.

Soap dissolves or breaks the fatty layer as well as protective layer that coats coronaviruses and afer broken of protective layer of virus it os rendered ineffective as it can't bind itself to other cells.

Soap molecules also compete with a lot other non-covalent bonds that help the proteins, RNA & the lipid to stick together. Soap is effectively dissolve the glue that holds the virus together.

Soap is also cost effective than Hand sanitizer.

Soap is prepared by mixing fats and oils with base that contains sodium and potassium salts of long chain fatty acids consisting 12 to 18 carbon atoms.

Hand Sanitizer formulation for 100ml (WHO) -
1. Ethanol (96%V/V) - 833 ml or Iso propyl alchohol (99.8%) - 751.5ml
2. H2O2(Hydrogen Peroxide)(3%) - 41.7ml
3. Glycerol (98%) - 14.5ml
4. Demineralised water/boiled and cold water - Q.S to 100 ml

Note: Eucalyptus oil or neem oil(5 drops) and rose or lavender essence can be added for good fragrance.

 इन दिनों शरीर में पित्त का शमन होता है।
 इस ऋतु में स्वाभाविक रूप से पाचनशक्ति प्रबल रहती है।इस समय लिया गया पौष्टिक और बलवर्धक आहार वर्ष भर शरीर को तेज, बल और पुष्टि प्रदान करता है।
क्या प्रयोग करें :-
 इस ऋतु में मीठा,खट्टा,नमकीन स्वाद वाले आहार प्रमुखता से लेना चाहिए।
 पचने में भारी, पौष्टिकता से भरपूर, गरम व स्निग्ध प्रकृति के, घी से बने पदार्थों का यथायोग्य सेवन करना चाहिए।
 मौसमी फल व शाक, नए अनाज जैसे –चावल आदि ,गन्ने से बने पदार्थ-जैसे गुड़ आदि ,दूध, रबड़ी, घी, मक्खन, मट्ठा, शहद, उड़द,खजूर, तिल, नारियल, मेथी, पीपर, सूखा मेवा तथा अन्य पौष्टिक पदार्थ इस ऋतु में सेवन योग्य माने जाते हैं। रात को भिगोये हुए चने (खूब चबा-चबाकर खायें), मूँगफली, गुड़, गाजर, केला,शकरकंद, सिंघाड़ा, आँवला आदि खाये जाने वाले पौष्टिक पदार्थ का सेवन करें |
 प्रतिदिन प्रातःकाल दौड़ लगाना, शरीर की तेलमालिश, व्यायाम, कसरत व योगासन करने चाहिए। यदि कुश्ती अथवा अन्य कसरतें आती हों तो उन्हें करना लाभदायक है|
 जिनकी तासीर ठंडी हो, वे इस ऋतु में गुनगुने गर्म जल से स्नान करें। अधिक गर्म जल का प्रयोग न करें। हाथ-पैर धोने में भी यदि गुनगुने पानी किया जाय तो हितकर होगा।
 शरीर पर तेल की मालिश करवाना लाभदायक है।
 तेलमालिश के बाद शरीर पर उबटन लगाकर स्नान करना हितकारी है।
 कमरे एवं शरीर को थोड़ा गर्म रखें। सूती, मोटे तथा ऊनी वस्त्र इस मौसम में लाभकारी होते हैं।
 प्रातःकाल सूर्य की किरणों का सेवन करें
क्या प्रयोग न करें :-
 इस ऋतु में बर्फ अथवा बर्फ का या फ्रिज का पानी, रूखे-सूखे, कसैले, तीखे तथा कड़वे रसप्रधान द्रव्यों, वातकारक और बासी पदार्थों का सेवन न करें। शीत प्रकृति के पदार्थों का अति सेवन न करें। हलका व कम भोजन की भी मनाही है।
 भूख को मारना या समय पर भोजन न करना स्वास्थ्य के लिए हानिकारक होता है।
 इस ऋतु में पाचन-शक्ति के प्रबल होने पर उसके बल के अनुसार पौष्टिक और भारी आहार नहीं मिलने पर यह बढ़ी हुई अग्नि शरीर की धातुओं को जलाने लगती है जिससे वात बढ़ जाता है।
 इस ऋतु में उपवास भी अधिक नहीं करना चाहिए।
 शरीर को ठंडी हवा के सम्पर्क में अधिक देर तक न आने दें।
 पैर ठंडे न हों, इस हेत जुराबें अथवा जूतें पहनें। बिस्तर, कुर्सी अथवा बैठने के स्थान पर कम्बल, चटाई, प्लास्टिक अथवा टाट की बोरी बिछाकर ही बैठें।
 इन दिनों स्कूटर जैसे दुपहिया खुले वाहनों द्वारा लम्बा सफर न करते हुए बस, रेल, कार जैसे बंद वाहनों से ही सफर करने का प्रयास करें।

शरद ऋतुचर्या (मध्य सितंबर से मध्य नवंबर के बीच की अवधि ) -

सामान्य अवस्था
 शरीर में ताकत मध्यम होती है |
 पित्त दोष शरीर में बढ़ता है |
 पाचन शक्ति वर्षा ऋतु की अपेक्षा थोड़ी बढ़ जाती है ।

क्या प्रयोग करें
 अच्छी तरह से भूख लगने पर ही खाना खाए |
 मीठा, कड़वा , पचने में हल्का हो , ठंडी तशीर वाले खाद्य पदार्थो का सेवन करना चाहिए |
 गेहू, जौ , चावल, मूंग की दाल, परवल का सेवन हितकर रहेगा |
 अगर संभव हो तो दिन के समय सूर्य की किरणों और रात के समय में चंद्रमा की किरणों में द्वारा शुद्ध पानी का प्रयोग पीने एवं नहाने के लिए किया जाना चाहिए |
 रात में चंद्रमा की किरणों का सेवन स्वास्थ्य के लिए अनुकूल है।
 शरीर पर चन्दन का लेप करें |
क्या प्रयोग न करें
 दिन की नींद, अत्यधिक भोजन, सूरज की रोशनी के अत्यधिक संपर्क, पूर्वी हवा के झोकों से बचना चाहिए |
 अत्यधिक गरम तशीर वाले , नमकीन, तीखा, खट्टा,वसा, तेल, दही, पानी में रहने वाले जीवों के मांस का सेवन आदि जैसे खाद्य पदार्थों को भी इस मौसम के दौरान आहार में शामिल नहीं किया जाना चाहिए।

वर्षा ऋतुचर्या (मध्य जुलाई से मध्य सितंबर) -

सामान्य अवस्था
वर्षा ऋतू में वात दोष कुपित होता है अतः बुजुर्गों एवं वातजन्य रोगों से पीड़ित रोगियों को विशेष रूप से वात को बढाने वाले खानपान और रहन – सहन से दूर रहना चाहिए |
सामन्य शिकायतें - पाचन शक्ति का कम होना, शारीरिक कमजोरी , वायु दोष , जोड़ों का दर्द ।
प्रयोग करें
 खट्टा,नमकीन, स्निग्ध और स्नेह गुणों वाले खाद्य पदार्थों को शहद मिलाकर लिया जाना चाहिए।
 खाना पचने में हल्का हो वही लेना चाहिए |
 पुरानी जौ, चावल, गेहूं, आदि की सलाह दी जाती है।
 मांस सूप के अलावा, मूंग दाल के सूप, आदि आहार में शामिल किया जाना है।
 दही के पानी को पंचकोल एवं सौवर्चल नमक मिलकर दें |
 गहरे कुएं के पानी, ट्यूबवेल के पानी ,बारिश के पानी, उबाला पानी प्रयोग करें ।
 वर्षा ऋतू में सूती एवं हलके वस्त्र सुगन्धित द्रव्यों से सुवाषित करके पहनें |
प्रयोग न करें
 नदी के पानी का सेवन नहीं करना चाहिए |
 नंगे पैर बाहर नहीं जाना चाहिए |
 अत्यधिक धूप, ठंडी हवा का सेवन नहीं करना चाहिए |
 खाद्य पदार्थ, पचाने के लिए भारी और कठिन हैं, प्रतिबंधित हैं।
 दिन में सोना
 अधिक व्यायाम, कठोर परिश्रम
