Summer in India brings extreme heatwaves that pose serious health risks. Hereβs how to stay safe and healthy during these scorching days.
π‘οΈ Precautions:
1. Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water, even if you donβt feel thirsty. Avoid sugary, caffeinated, and alcoholic drinks.
2. Wear Light Clothing: Opt for light, loose-fitting, and light-colored clothes to stay cool.
3. Stay Indoors During Peak Heat: Limit outdoor activities between 10 AM and 4 PM. Seek shade if you must go out.
4. Use Sun Protection: Apply sunscreen with SPF 30+, wear a hat, and use sunglasses.
5. Keep Your Home Cool: Use fans, air conditioning, or keep windows open during cooler parts of the day.
π¨ Symptoms of Heat-Related Illness:
- Heat Exhaustion: Heavy sweating, weakness, dizziness, nausea, muscle cramps.
- Heat Stroke: High body temperature (104Β°F+), hot/red/dry skin, rapid pulse, confusion, unconsciousness.
π₯ Treatment:
- For Heat Exhaustion: Move to a cool place, lie down, loosen clothing, apply cool cloths, sip water.
- For Heat Stroke: Call emergency services, move to a cooler place, use cool cloths/bath, do not give fluids if unconscious.
