Head and neck cancers are
The areas they affect (oral cavity, pharynx, larynx, nasal cavity, sinuses, salivary glands, etc.)
Early signs and symptoms
Common causes and risk factors
🔍 Basic etiology and risk factors discussed include:
To***co use (smoking and smokeless to***co): the single most important risk factor
Alcohol consumption: especially when combined with to***co
HPV infection: particularly HPV-16, linked to oropharyngeal cancers
Epstein-Barr virus (EBV): associated with nasopharyngeal carcinoma
Poor oral hygiene and dental health
Prolonged sun exposure: a risk for lip and skin cancers of the head and neck
Occupational exposures: such as wood dust, formaldehyde, asbestos
Dietary deficiencies: low intake of fruits and vegetables
Genetic predisposition and family history etc
it could help save a life through early detection and prevention.

World Head and Neck Cancer Day – July 27

Today, we recognize World Head and Neck Cancer Day, a vital moment to raise awareness about a group of cancers that often go unnoticed until it's too late. Early detection can make all the difference.

Prevention is powerful: Avoiding to***co and excessive alcohol, maintaining good oral hygiene, and getting vaccinated against HPV are all critical steps in reducing risk.

Let this day be a reminder to:

Get regular check-ups
Be aware of warning signs like non healing ulcers, persistent sore throat, hoarseness of voice or lumps in neck
Support those affected and promote life-saving awareness
Together, we can make a difference through education, compassion and early intervention.
