YOGIC DIET - BEST DIET FOR HUMAN BODY

The diet has a very important role in our life as it is the main cause of health and disease. According to Yogic Philosophy there is a link between the diet and mind. A Yogic diet should be followed if you want enter in to the world of Calm, Meditation and Yoga. The Yogic diet is based on the principles of Purity (Sattva), nonviolence (Ahimsa) and balanced living. A Yogic diet is mainly a Sattvic Diet which includes food that are pure, clean and wholesome also which provides Vitality, Energy and Strength. In Yogic Science food seems to be a carrier of a life force called 'Prana' giving body which aides in raising one's consciousness and endows a person eating it with virtues such as honesty, truthfulness, intelligence and a clear focussed mind to pursue the spiritual path. Healthy eating is a key to make a balance between mind and for the proper functioning of the body. In Yogic diet, a Sadhak/yogi or saint only consume Sattvic food and is highly recommended because it is believed to increase longtivity and peace of mind. Well Yogic Diet tells you how to follow mindful eating. The Sattvic food is easily digestible as it includes fresh seasonal fruits, green vegetables, whole grains such as oats, legumes, plant based oils and herbal teas. The Vedas and Bhagwad geeta tells us the science of proper and healthy eating. If we logic it out God has designed this body for vegetarianism. There are three types of diet as per Yoga and they are based on gunas.
1. Sattvic Diet foods considered clean, pure, savoury, smooth, firm and easily digestible and pleasant to the stomach.
2. Rajasic Diet foods that cause over stimulation and agitation pungent, sour, harsh, or astringent.
3. Tamasic Diet foods that leave us tired and sluggish stale, tasteless, rotten or foul.
The Sattvic Diet is belived to be pure and balanced diet.
1. Increase energy
2. Good for happiness and brings calmness.
3. Good for mental health.
4. Increase life expectancy.

What we eat not only influences our Physical well being, but also our emotions and thoughts.
Yoga teaches that a Yogic diet is best for the Spiritual life but also good for our overall health. Sattvic foods are pure and life giving and promotes health. Eating slowly and chewing well and savouring each bite is also considered sattvic. Food is not only for physical fitness, but it also influnces mental and spiritual health.
Be Mindful and remember that ahimsa also means taking care of oneself.
