Special Lok Adalat for Bank Cases Held at
Anantnag.

Sept 18: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Anantnag on Thursday organized a Special Lok Adalat for bank cases at the District Court Complex, Anantnag, under the directions of Hon’ble Principal District and Sessions Judge, Mr. Tahir Khurshid Raina (Chairman, DLSA Anantnag) and supervision of Ms. Fozia Paul, Secretary, DLSA Anantnag.
Addressing the gathering, Hon’ble Mr. Raina highlighted the concept of Lok Adalats and
their role in providing speedy and amicable settlement of disputes. Multiple benches were
constituted at the district headquarters to take up commercial as well as regular banking cases.
Out of 150 cases listed, 70were settled, involving a settlement amount of ₹1.11 crore. The
initiative provided relief to litigants and reinforced the judiciary’s commitment to speedy justice
and reduction of case pendency.

The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Anantnag on Saturday organized the 3rd National Lok Adalat of 2025 across the district under the directions of Hon’ble Mr. Justice Sanjeev Kumar, Executive Chairman, J&K Legal Services Authority. The event was inaugurated by Mr. Tahir Khurshid Raina, Principal District & Sessions Judge (Chairman, DLSA Anantnag) in the presence of Judicial Officers, Bar members, legal aid counsel, court staff and litigants.
Multiple benches were constituted at the district headquarters as well as in peripheral courts including Bijbehara, Vailoo, Dooru, Shangus, Aishmuqam, Pahalgam and the District Consumer Court to amicably settle disputes. The cases taken up included civil disputes, cheque bounce cases, matrimonial issues, traffic challans, bank matters and pre-litigation cases.
In total, 4,186 cases were taken up, out of which 2,055 were settled, involving a settlement amount of ₹2.69 crore. Significantly, 09 MACT cases were resolved with compensation of ₹1.91 crore awarded to claimants. The initiative reinforced the judiciary’s commitment to speedy justice and reducing pendency of cases.
The Lok Adalat was convened under the supervision of Ms. Fozia Paul, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority Anantnag.

The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Anantnag, as part of its continuing commitment to promote legal literacy and awareness among the public, has taken a significant step to highlight the importance of the Lokpal of India in the fight against corruption.

In this regard, DLSA Anantnag screened a short awareness video-film prepared by Doordarshan, which depicts the role, functions, and significance of the Lokpal in ensuring transparency, accountability, and integrity in governance. The film seeks to educate the general public about how the institution of Lokpal acts as a watchdog against corruption and provides citizens with a mechanism to raise complaints against corrupt practices.

To maximize outreach and ensure that the message reaches a larger section of society beyond the physical screening, the video has also been uploaded on the official social media handle of DLSA Anantnag. This digital initiative aims at engaging citizens, especially the younger generation, by making awareness content easily accessible through online platforms.

By adopting both traditional and modern means of communication, DLSA Anantnag strives to fulfill its mandate of spreading legal awareness and empowering the public to actively participate in the collective effort against corruption.

Today the Hon'ble Principal District & Sessions Judge Anantnag Mr. Tahir Khurshid Raina and Hon' ble CJM Anantnag Mr. Feroz Ahmad Khan on ground took stock of the flood situation along with other Judicial Officers of the District, Panel Lawyer,Advocates,Police Officials, SDRF Team at District Court Complex Anantnag for preservation of valuable court records that carry the weight of countless lives and stories, so that the functioning of justice remains uninterrupted despite the challenges posed by the floods.
During the visit, the Hon'ble Judge had a detailed interaction with Judicial Officers, Panel Lawyer,Advocates and staff to assess the impact of waterlogging in the court premises. Special focus was laid on safeguarding valuable court records and ensuring the safety of litigants, lawyers, and staff. The Hon'ble Judge also directed immediate protective measures for preservation of files and other equipment, while emphasizing uninterrupted justice delivery despite the adverse conditions.

District Legal Services Authority Anantnag in collaboration with District Judiciary Anantnag celebrated the Event of Independence Day on 15th of August, 2025 at District Court Complex Anantnag.
The event was presided over by Worthy Chairman DLSA Anantnag Mr. Tahir Khurshid Raina (Principal District & Sessions Judge Anantnag) along with all Ld. Judges of District Anantnag. In the said programme, Staff Members of DLSA Anantnag, court staff and Para Legal Volunteers also participated.
On this special occasion, the programme started with flag hoisting by Worthy Chairman DLSA Anantnag Mr. Tahir Khurshud Raina (Principal District & Sessions Judge Anantnag). After hosting event, Worthy Chairman distributed the Appreciation Certificates to all police personnel posted at District Court Anantnag. Thereafter, Worthy Chairman was kind enough to distribute sweets among the security forces.
The Worthy Chairman, in his brief speech, addressed the gathering appealing to their nationalistic spirit and urging them to take pride in being an Indian and fulfilling one’s duty with responsibility. He also emphasized the role of youth today as the true wealth of a country.
Same event was also organized in various Tehsils presided over by Ld. Chairmen of Tehsil Legal Services Committees Vailoo, Bijbehara, Aishmuqam, Dooru and Shangus which were participated by staff members.
