Awareness programme on NALSA( Protection and Enforcement of Tribal Rights) Scheme 2015.

In a significant step towards empowering the tribal communities and safeguarding their constitutional rights, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Anantnag, in collaboration with the Tehsil Legal Services Committee (TLSC) Vailoo, organised a one-day Tribal Rights Awareness Programme on 27.06.2025 at Middle School Bidhard. The central theme of the programme was the "Protection and Enforcement of Tribal Rights Scheme 2015".

The event was graced by Hon'ble Mrs. Fauzia Paul, Sub-Judge and Secretary, DLSA Anantnag, as the Chief Guest, and Hon'ble Mr. Shafeeq Ahmad Malik, Sub-Judge and Chairman TLSC Vailoo, as the Guest of Honour. Their presence added immense value to the programme aimed at enlightening the tribal populace about their legal rights and available protections.The secretary DLSA Anantnag apprised the tribal community about their special rights and the legal protections available to them.

The event was further dignified by the presence of Mr. Abid Rasool Padder, Deputy LADC Anantnag, Jasra Ayoub , Assistant LADC Anantnag, and Advocate Nazir Ahmad Padder, Panel Lawyer TLSC Vailoo, who provided valuable insights into the practical aspects of legal rights and remedies available to tribal communities.

The programme was hosted by under the leadership of Mr. Sahil Bashir Ahmad Rather Zonal Education Officer Vailoo, who has always been at the forefront of community welfare and education development. The event was meticulously organised by Tehsil Legal Cell, Vailoo and Co-hosted by the Headmaster of Middle School Bidhard, in association with the Legal Cell District Anantnag, Skill Development Department and Heads of various educational institutions of the zone.

In their keynote addresses, the dignitaries elaborated on the provisions of the Tribal Rights Scheme 2015, emphasizing legal safeguards against exploitation, protection of land rights, access to education, healthcare, and livelihood schemes tailored for Scheduled Tribes. They also highlighted the role of Legal Services Authorities in ensuring free legal aid and justice to the marginalized sections of society.

A large number of tribal community members, students, teachers, and locals participated in the event with great enthusiasm. Interactive sessions and open discussions allowed the participants to voice their concerns, seek clarifications, and understand the legal mechanisms available for the protection of their rights.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks extended by the Headmaster of Middle School Bidhard, who expressed gratitude to all the dignitaries, participants, and organisers for making the event a grand success.

District Legal Services Authority Anantnag Observed the “International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking” under the Supervision of learned Secretary DLSA Anantnag Ms Fouzia Paul in accordance to the calendar of activities issued by the J&K State Legal Services Authority, in collaboration with the District Administration Anantnag and the Department of Social Welfare at Town hall Anantnag.
The programme was about Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking as the Drug abuse continues to be a global challenge, silently harming individuals, breaking families and weakening communities. Its impact goes beyond addiction; it causes lasting physical, mental and social damage, illicit trafficking of drugs and illegal cultivation of narcotic substances destroys the economy of our country.
During the programme the importance of “International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking” was highlighted as a global reminder to raise awareness, promote preventive measures and strengthen cooperation among nations to curb drug abuse and trafficking.
The programme was attended by the District Development Officer, Mr Zahoor Ahmad , officials of the Social welfare department, officials J&K Excise Department, officials of Education Department, Doctors from health department Legal Aid Defence Counsels, students and PLVs. The recourse persons from District Legal Services Authority Anantnag, namely Muzaffar Ahmad Bhat, Deputy LADC and Danish Qadir, Assistant LADC Anantnag, highlighted the various legal provisions, which deal with the Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

# 11th International Yoga Day Celebrations #

The District Legal Services Authority Observed the 11th International Yoga Day under the Supervision of worthy Chairman District Legal Services Authority Anantnag Mr. Tahir Khurshid Raina and learned Secretary DLSA Anantnag Ms Fouzia Paul in accordance to the calendar of activities issued by the NALSA in the premises of District and Sessions Court Anantnag, with theme “Yoga for One Earth, one Health”.
The Yoga Day was attended by the Presiding officers posted at District Headquarters Anantnag, the team of LADC’s, staff, Para Legal Volunteers, and the advocates.
A Yoga training session was conducted by an Instructor. All the participants felt relaxed after the Yoga Session and enjoyed and experienced the physical, mental and emotional benefits of yoga and session acted as inspiration to incorporate the daily life of a person for the overall development of the body.
That apart from the Yoga Session, the benefits of Yoga in general and the benefits of exercises performed in session in particular was communicated to the participants by the resource persons from the department of Ayush and the Legal Services Authority Anantnag.
The 11th International Yoga Day was observed by all Tehsil Legal Services Authorities under the supervision of respective Chairmen of the Tehsil Legal Services Authorities of the district Anantnag, which includes, Tehsil Legal Services Authority Bijbehara, Vailoo, Doru, Shangus, Aishmuqam and Pahalgam.

District Legal Services Authority Anantnag Observes World Elder Abuse Awareness Day #.

As per the directions of NALSA, District Legal Services Authority Anantnag organised a programme on "World Elder Abuse Awareness Day", at Ahati-Waqar in collaboration with District social welfare Department Anantnag. The object of the said programme was to aware old aged persons about their rights and how their problems can be solved legally.
The officials of District social welfare Department Anantnag also highlighted the problems faced by the senior citizens and the schemes which are available to the elderly persons which are provided by the social welfare Department Anantnag.The procedure and mechanism of availing such schemes were explained to the audience.
The key speakers for the event included Mr Farooq Ahmad Naiko,(Tehsil Social welfare officer Anantnag ), Mr Raouf Hamid Shah (Administrator Composite Home Nanil Anantnag) Mr. Abid Rasool Padder (Deputy Chief Legal Aid Defence Counsel, Anantnag), Mr. Ishfaq Ahmad Shah, and Mr. Danish Qadir (Assistant Legal Aid Defence Counsels) who addressed the gathering.
The program highlighted the need to sensitize society towards the issues faced by senior citizens and emphasized the importance of free legal aid available to them under the NALSA Scheme for Legal Services to Senior Citizens.
The program also involved direct interaction with senior inmates present at the facility to ensure that legal awareness and support reached the grassroots level.
The District Legal Services Authority reiterated its commitment in ensuring justice and protection for senior citizens and appealed to the public and civil society to remain vigilant and supportive of the elderly in their communities.

Awareness Programme on World Day Against Child Labour Held at GMS Aishmuqam

An awareness programme was today organised by the Chairman, Tehsil Legal Services Committee (TLSC) Aishmuqam, in collaboration with Government Middle School (Girls), Aishmuqam, to mark the observance of world day against child labour.
The event was held at the school premises and witnessed active participation from students and staff. On this occasion, Chairman TLSC Aishmuqam, accompanied by panel lawyer Mr. Naseer Ah Mir, addressed the gathering and sensitized the students about the serious issue of child labour and its harmful impact on society.
The speakers emphasized the importance of education and legal protections available for children under various laws. They also encouraged students to become aware citizens and raise their voices against any form of exploitation.
The Headmaster, teachers of GMS Aishmuqam, and Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) were also present and contributed to the success of the programme.
The event concluded with an interactive session, leaving the students with a deeper understanding of the importance of eradicating child labour and ensuring a safe and secure future for every child.

District Legal Services Authority Anantnag successfully organized 2nd National Lok Adalat of 2025 today across District Anantnag under the aegis of the J&K Legal Services Authority. The inauguration was organized in Alternate Dispute Resolution Centre, District Court Complex Anantnag presided over by Hon’ble Chairman DLSA (Pr. District & Sessions Judge, Anantnag) Mr. Tahir Khurshid Raina in presence of Worthy Additional District & Sessions Judge Anantnag Ms. Masarat Roohi, Secretary District Legal Services Authority Anantnag Ms. Fozia Paul, Chief Judicial Magistrate Anantnag Mr. Feroz Ahmad Khan, Special Mobile Magistrate, Anantnag, Ms. Lubna Sultan, District Mobile Magistrate Mr. Anurag Khajuria, Munsiff (JMIC) Anantnag, Mr. Arshad Aziz Qureshi , Bar Members, Advocates, Court Staff, Media persons and litigants.
As far as benches are concerned, the first bench was presided over by Mr. Tahir Khurshid Raina, Hon’ble Chairman DLSA (Pr. District & Sessions Judge, Anantnag) accompanied by Mr. Muzaffar Ahmad Bhat, Deputy Chief Legal Aid Defense Counsel, Anantnag as Member, the Second bench was presided over by Ms. Masarat Roohi, Worthy Additional District & Sessions Judge, Anantnag accompanied by Mr. Arshid Aziz Qureshi, Munsiff JMIC Anantnag as Member, the third bench was presided over by Ms. Fozia Paul, Secretary DLSA Anantnag accompanied by Mr. Zakir Hussain Lone, Deputy Chief LADC as Member, the fourth bench was presided over by Mr. Feroz Ahmad Khan, Chief Judicial Magistrate, Anantnag accompanied by Ms. Lubna Sultan, Special Mobile Magistrate Anantnag as Member and the fifth bench was presided over by Mr. Anurag Khajuria, District Mobile Magistrate Anantnag accompanied by Mr. Abid Rasool Padder, Deputy Chief Legal Aid Defence Counsel, Anantnag.
Apart from the benches constituted at DLSA headquarter, 06 benches were constituted in peripheral courts to conduct National Lok Adalat at Court Complex headed by Ms. Tabassum Qadir Parray at Sub-Judge Court Bijbehara, Mr. Shafeeq Ahmad Malik at Sub-Judge court Vailoo, Ms. Arizoo Javed at Munsiff court Dooru, Mr. Fazal ul Haq at Munsiff Court Shangus, Mr. Shyam Kumar at Munsiff court Aishmuqam and Mr. Himanshu Atri at Addl. Spl. Mobile Magistrate court Pahalgam. In addition to this, 01 bench in the office of District Social Welfare Officer, Anantnag accompanied by Ms. Jasra Ayoub, Assistant LADC Anantnag..
The cases which were referred in National Lok Adalat included matters of Civil disputes, Service related cases, Cheque bounce cases, Cr. Compoundable, Matrimonial cases, Money recovery cases, MACT claims, Traffic Challans, Bank cases and Pre Litigation cases. A total of 13,999 different Cases/ matters were taken up in which 13,783 different Cases/matters were amicably settled. An amount of Rs. 4,56,75,000/- was amicably settled in different cases.
Worthwhile to mention that the Worthy Chairman DLSA Mr. Tahir Khurshid Raina distributed two cheques for an amount of Rs. 5,25,000/- under Victim Compensation Scheme to the victims. Worthy Chairman also distributed cheques settled under MACT claims wherein the highest claim that was settled was an amount of Rs. 94,60,000/- (Ninety Four Lacs and Sixty Thousands only).
