A Legacy of 38 Glorious Years…
This is not merely a conference — it is the living continuation of a humanitarian movement, a reflection of unwavering commitment and collective purpose.
Thirty-eight years ago, it began with a noble vision — to eradicate the shortage of blood and to build a 100% voluntary blood donation–based service through the dedication of countless selfless donors. Through meaningful exchange of ideas among like-minded volunteers and blood donor organizations across West Bengal and neighboring states, a structured roadmap was created —
to increase the number of voluntary donors, expand public awareness, and strengthen the infrastructure and quality of services in government blood centers.
Year after year, in every district of the state, organizations working with shared conviction have carried forward this proud legacy with sincerity, enthusiasm, and love.
The State Conference of Voluntary Blood Donor Organizations of West Bengal has become a symbol of unity, compassion, and the pledge of humanity — where minds meet, hearts connect, and a mission continues.
This year, the 38th Chapter of that inspiring journey will be held in Kharagpur, organized by Kharagpur Voluntary Blood Donors Organisation with the support of the apex coordinating body — Federation of Voluntary Blood Donors Organisations West Bengal (FVBDOWB).
Since the foundation of AVBDWB in 1980, the organized voluntary blood donation movement in West Bengal has steadily advanced — now marching toward its Golden Jubilee in 2030, driven by the collective strength and shared vision of 49 independent voluntary blood donor organizations across the state.
On 20th July 2025, during the Federation’s State Workshop inaugurated by the Directorate of Health Services, West Bengal — observed as Federation Day on the auspicious birth anniversary of Professor Debabrata Roy — the movement reaffirmed its commitment through the publication of the Golden Pledge (1980–2030).
This pledge embodies our promise that by 2030 we shall achieve:
🩸100% Voluntary Blood Donation
🩸Zero Thalassemia
🩸Safe and Transparent Blood Transfusion
🩸Enactment of a Comprehensive Blood Act
In this 38th State Conference at Kharagpur, representatives from all 49 esteemed member organizations of FVBDOWB will come together — alongside senior officials from the State Health Department, local health administrators, eminent doctors, and subject experts.
The discussions will encompass growth analysis of our collective work, strategic planning for the future, updates on modern technological advancements in blood services, capacity-building initiatives, evaluation of government blood centers, structural proposals, unified action against the commercialization of blood, and a comprehensive roadmap toward a Thalassemia-free West Bengal.
After the season of Durga Puja and Diwali — the Festival of Humanity calls once again.
We shall reunite as one family — the Voluntary Blood Donor Fraternity — in this grand annual celebration of life and compassion, on 7th, 8th, and 9th November 2025, at Kharagpur.
And next year, we meet again in Alipurduar — but before that, just a few more days of waiting...
Starting something noble is easy. Ending it may be easier still.
But carrying it forward — unwaveringly, with integrity and purpose, for thirty-eight long years — that is the true test of spirit.
This journey has been possible only because every organization, every volunteer, and every donor has kept the flame alive — through their indomitable will, selflessness, and sincerity.
They are the guiding light that continues to lead us forward — along the ever-glorious path of this unstoppable movement for humanity.🩸
