What makes your heart sing?

Client feedback 3 weeks after a one hour session.

She said, "the first 2 weeks after the session, things were the same. I felt nothing was working but I kept practicing what you had asked me to. Suddenly now, since the third week, everything seems to be flowing easily. I don't know how. But I feel so positive so much so that a positive C report I got yesterday is also not dampening my spirit."

We are sometimes quick to quit thinking things aren't working. We have lived years consciously and unconsciously training ourselves to think a particular way, react a particular way and experiencing the world a certain way.

To change that, to change the way we think, to make physiological changes in our body, which in turn influence our experiences, we need to give it some time and practice.

"After 5 years I'm able to sleep well now. The past 2 days I'm not experiencing the headache and burning sensation in the eye that I'd been suffering from, for the last 6 months.
The pain in the chest has reduced considerably. I get the pain once a day and it doesn't even bother me. I used to have it all day before.
I don't feel as hungry as before.
I don't hate people anymore and I observe I have a more positive outlook towards life", said Raj.

At synQlarity Deepak and I offer sessions in packages of five-one hour sessions.

We start off with an orientation session where we offer the client, pointers on how we go about the sessions, the techniques we use, why we use them and how it helps them achieve their desirable outcomes. The client also shares his/her views and expectations from the sessions. To us this is a very important step to ensure that we are on the same page and the client is empowered to make informed decisions as far as the sessions are concerned.

Raj (name changed) was referred to us by one of our clients. When he called us he was experiencing quite a few health challenges, lack of sleep, anger issues and some difficulty with interpersonal relationship at his workplace. With a recent break up, life didn't look very rosy on the personal front too.

We observed, what was going for him was his willingness to change things for the better. And we knew that the decision he took to reach out, with the desire to change and improve his life was the first step to make it happen.

Within a single session and that too the orientation session where we gave him some guidelines and exercises to practice, we saw a massive shift in one week. When he logged in for the next session, this was his feedback:

By the end of the 5th session when we connected for a review call, he reported immense physical and mental well being. A 98% reduction in his chest pain and he wasn't feeling the pressure in his eyes any more and didn't need his spectacles.
He said, "I knew about positivity. But it was difficult to practice. With the help of your sessions I was able to go beyond that block."
His irritation with people at work had reduced too.

Now what did we do?
Did we have a magic wand that swept his issues away?

Not at all. What we experience on a physical level has a lot to do with our thoughts and experiences. And once you know how you function, how your body responds to your external environment to create similar patterns in your life, with a few techniques of mind intervention and a clear understanding, you can change any pattern or condition.

I would say, in a 100/100 of our sessions we find that it is a lack of self love and a low self esteem that leads to many non contributive behaviors, upsets, dise-eases and conflicts.

If your self image is intact, you wouldn't pay heed to other's comparisons or harsh criticisms.

Why don't we have an ideal self image?

There are many factors that influence our lack of a good self image.

👩‍🏫The environment you grew up in. Eg. A younger sibling given more attention which led you to thinking you are not good enough, bullying in school..
🙋‍♀️The cultural beliefs you hold. Eg. You are asked to consider everyone else's choices before yours. A warped idea that it is selfishness if you choose for yourself.
🚵‍♂️An inability to perform certain skills out of fear or inhibition, that makes you believe you are a failure.
🩺Your work environment
💰🪜Your social and financial status
💔Various experiences in life with your friends, relatives, spouse/family
🙇‍♂️ Gender inequality. Eg. Inability to express yourself since you are a boy because you were told boys shouldn't be vulnerable/boys don't cry.
🧑‍🤝‍🧑Your sexual orientation
🙅‍♀️ Children unconsciously imbibe their parent's beliefs. Especially in a patriarchal house, the girl sometimes mimics the mother by serving the men in the family before she sits and eats, no matter how hungry she is.
👀Your body and your skin color play a role too based on what your community or society believes about beauty.

While there are many factors that influence your self image, we also learn various coping mechanisms over the years.

Some of us fight it, some of us give in to it and some of us are not even aware that we have a low esteem and even if we are, we feel trapped and don't know how to change it.
