Each year 15th October is celebrated as "Global Hand Washing Day" which is an International hand washing promotion campaign to motivate and mobilize people around the world to improve their hand washing habits.

Keeping hands clean can prevent diarrheal illnesses and respiratory infections such as cold ot the flu.
In the current scenario of COVID-19 pandemic. Hand Washing has been identified as a most effective way to spread the virus

This year theme of this day is "Hand Hygiene for All". So protect your self and your family by adopting good hand hygiene practices.

Each year 10th October is celebrated as "World Mental Health Day" to increase involvement in matters of mental health and encouraging global mental health education. Mental health is equally important as other health problems.

This year the world mental health day, comes at a time when our daily lives have changed considerably as a result of COVID-19 pandemic. This pandemic is also creating mental health problems for a larger population.

This year the focus will be on "Mental Health for All" and work towards an increased investment in mental health to ensure the availability of mental health care For everyone, everywhere says Dr. G Gururaj, Director and Senior Professor of Epidemiology, NIMHANS.

Every year 1st October is celebrated as "International Day for Older Persons" to raising awareness about issues affecting the elderly and to appreciate their contributions for the society.
Considering the higher risks confronted by older persons during the COVID-19 pandemic, there is extra needs to raise awareness about their special needs.

These are some glimpses of the activities form the celebration of International Day of Older Persons - 2019. We as a team of Centre for Public Health, commemorate this event last year in Srinivaspura taluka of Kolar district of Karnataka. This year it was not possible for to us to celebrate this event with older people as they are vulnerable for COVID-19.
Last year in this event some games and other activities like; Lemin race, musical chair, 100 mtr run etc. were organized for them. Prize distribution was done for the winners. All winners were very happy to getting prize from the hands of their grandchildren.

Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) are the major cause of death of people of the World every year. Strokes and heart attacks are common worldwide. So to spread awareness for prevention and cure of cardiovascular diseases and reduce death because of CVD World Heart Federation established "World Heart Day".

Every year on this day they Promote awareness to reduce risk factors. Use of to***co, use of alcohol, unhealthy diet, lack of physical activity leads to High blood pressure, elevated blood glucose for diabetics, overweight and obesity, etc. these factors are a key cause of Heart disease.

On the occasion of this day let's make a promise to take care of our hearts. It is essential that we adopt healthy lifestyle to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease.

28 September is "World Rabies Day" which is celebrated annually to raise awareness about rabies prevention and to highlight progress in defeating this horrifying disease.

28 September also marks the anniversary of Louis Pasteur's death, the French chemist and microbiologist, who developed the first rabies vaccine.

The theme for World Rabies Day 2020 is “End Rabies: Collaborate, Vaccinate”– you can help by keeping pets up to date on their rabies vaccination, and collaborating with doctors, veterinarians, educators, community workers, policy makers, and others in your community to raise awareness around rabies prevention and control.

September has been World Alzheimer’s Month. This year on September 21 which is World Alzheimer’s Day, the theme is ‘Let’s talk about dementia’ and an international campaign is being run to raise awareness and challenge the stigma that surrounds the disease.

Since there is little or no understanding of the disease, the stigmatisation and misinformation about it is a global problem.

Health Worker Safety: A Priority for Patient Safety has, therefore, been selected as the theme for World Patient Safety Day 2020, which focuses on the interrelationship between health worker safety and patient safety, depicted in the slogan ‘Safe health workers, Safe patients’.
