Insulin is the hormone of the fed state, it wants to store energy, not burn it. Have you tried to simply lower your insulin? It is highly counterproductive to eat less, move more, and take insulin as a type two diabetic. Giving insulin to type two diabetics is exactly the opposite of what one should do. Type two diabetes is hyperinsulinemia. The way to lower insulin is by reducing the drive that keeps its production high. Reduce drastically carbohydrates, as much as you need to lower insulin, till you see the results are both lower hba1c far more than any secretagogue will force, far safer than injecting insulin, Low carbohydrate way of eating is of utmost importance. Carbohydrates are fuel for fire. They are non-nutrients, and diabetes type two is carbohydrate toxicity. Most of which can be halted and good deal reversed, maintained, especially the reduction of, if not complete removal of medications.
Type one diabetes is hypoinsulinemia, and in line with type two, the best way to manage is also low carbohydrate way of eating, "law of small numbers", low intake of carbs, low amount of overshooting and undershooting, and inappropriate timings of insulin usage. Same principle both for type one and type two, though etiologies are different. Keep in mind that beta-cell health, pancreatic health with type two hyperinsulinemia medications that force insulin production, are causing more harm, one can be both type two, and progressively type one, just as type one can be both insulin resistant effectively type two, called double diabetes. Keep in mind as well the coupling breakdown between insulin and glucagon, prominent in type one as they have little to no insulin, and in type twos the glucagon stops being effectively suppressed by insulin, hence higher blood sugar.
Low carbohydrate means focusing on eating animal products such as any and all, especially ruminate meats with their fat, eggs, low starch veggies, full fat dairy, fish, organs, and keeping TOTAL carbohydrate grams low enough for you, usually lower than 70 grams, often 20 Total Grams. Don't count calories, count total carbs, eat as much as you want.
All this is very general but gives a good place to start to understand.
Grains are addictive, and grains and sugars drive appetite and hijack pathways of signalling for satiation (doesn't allow it) and addictive cravings are created and maintained. Best to not eat grains at all, and limit other sugars from vegetables, and fructose is a liver toxin basically. When you start changing what you eat, food habits, actually any habit, you start dealing with addictions, it is surprising, painful and difficult, but entirely doable especially with changing good intake, the input of food is chemical language.
Unlike other addictions that are outside of chemical stimulants are often more ethereal to grasp and harder to manipulate out of and into conscious control and maintained of abstinence.
With food, simply changing the input to animal based foods effectively removes the insult of the stimuli of carbohydrates especially the grains and sugars out of your body.
Meaning that animal proteins and fat are in charge now instead of carbohydrates, and hormonal signaling and immune responses are now better modulated, and not reactive and heightened or dysfunctional.
Tissues and hormonal crosstalk ability start to heal.
Craving diminish, if not completely disappear. Pain reduces. Head clarity is improved. And lots more...
There is no human disease caused by deficiency of carbohydrate consumption, but many diseases are caused by carbohydrate excess.
This post is still in work...
