Sometimes, the plate of food is absolutely photogenic.
Zaffrani chicken at Ministry of Beer is outstanding as a starter. Hits the palate, as well as the eyes. Tender, juicy and flavourful pieces of chicken, accompanied by masala-vinegar onions, and mint chutney.
It turned out to be so good, that we ordered it twice.

The Unthinkable Pizza.
Domino's has recently launched a pizza with plant based protein. The flavour of chicken/meat is accurately recreated. However, the pizza still doesn't "feel" completely non-vegetarian. The topping combo is a bit dry also, and could do with some onions or tomatoes.
That said, most toppings work well enough on a cheese burst base, and so did this one.
P.S: Posting after ages because the job doesn't allow any breathing space.

A single scoop of ice cream at one of the quaint little shops in Greenville. Choco Chip for the win. One scoop is sufficient for a well fed adult.

Nothing that a cookie can't make right. Especially a cookie with gems on it.
These cookies from Stax Bakery were part of one of our training sessions. Perhaps the only thing that helped us get through all of it. Delicious gooey cookies that melt in the mouth.

Something about pasta that makes everything feel just about fine.
This is perhaps my favourite comfort food. Home made. Mum always manages to infuse this with so much flavour.

Biesemiellah Restaurant - Cape Town.
This is a traditional "Cape Malay" restaurant. From the outset, the red signboard and a rather unglamourous structure do little to prepare the customer for the flavour surprise awaiting them inside. The set up inside reminded me of an American diner. Bright colours, basic tables and chairs etc.
The establishment is run by a family, with some domestic help. I ordered the Chicken Curry with roti (more like a Kerala parotta) and chicken samoosas (somehow South Africans named their samosas with an extra "o". These were accompanied by their standard beetroot pickle and a chutney. The chicken curry is a flavour bomb - perhaps the best curry I've had outside of India. It just took me back home with it's perfect combination of spices, and melt in the mouth portions of chicken. The roti is slightly crispy and easy to eat with one hand (a basic hallmark of all good rotis). The samoosas were delicious as well.
By the end of my meal, I was totally taken aback by the flavour bomb on my palate. A pleasant walk through the Bo-Kaap neighbourhood and your day is complete. This is one meal experience that should be on everyone's bucket list.

Cheese Burst variants from
This is one of my guilty pleasures and favourite comfort foods.
Farmhouse - the toppings (mushrooms, onions, tomatoes, capsicum) are generous and complement the cheese burst flavours

Momos!

These dumplings have established themselves as the quintessential snack for most of our evenings.

I stumbled upon this little outlet in a market area near apartment complexes in Crossings Republik, Ghaziabad. I've had Momo's all across Delhi, Bangalore and pretty much most big cities in the country (excluding the north-east which is a different market altogether). From the informal seller's perspective, this is by far the best taste, portion size, and value for money plate that I've come across. These guys score on consistency as well - the taste and texture has not shown variation across numerous visits to this place. The portion size is very good. A half plate here gives you 6 pieces, and a full plate comes with 10 decent sized pieces.

Afghani, Tandoori and Fried are must tries here.

If I was to rate these, I would give them a strong

Pizza.
If you close your eyes, and think about one thing that you can't live without in this world, wouldn't it be Pizza? I think so.
This pie was a colourful vegetarian variant and the first thing that I popped into my mouth upon my return to the Homeland after nearly six weeks. The toppings are flavourful and the crust had a crunch to it. One decent pizza.

When you find an unexpectedly delicious plate of chicken wings, in a hotel not necessarily famous for it's food. Delights none the less.
300 gms of BBQ chicken wings, vegetables on the sides, a mushroom coriander sauce, and some fries. The wings were perfectly cooked, and the fries were crisp. The mushroom sauce was full of flavour, and the vegetables took away some of the guilt.
