I was sitting with a client last week.
Mid-conversation, she stopped and asked —
"How do I even know I'm stressed?"

I didn't answer immediately.
I thought of a rāga. 🎶
Each rāga carries its own mood.
Devotion. Courage. Wonder. Introspection.
You don't analyse it — you simply feel it.

Our emotions are no different.
They arrive with their own texture, their own weight.
The tight chest. The restlessness. The quiet heaviness.

We just never learned to listen.
Emotions are not problems to fix.

They are melodies to understand.
And when we write them down —
we stop interrupting the rāga.
We let it complete itself.

Even distress has a melody.
Letting it flow — that's where calm lives. 🕊️

The body feels it long before the mind names it.

That tight chest? Fear.
That heaviness you carry? Grief.
That heat in your face? Anger.

As a psychologist, I've seen one simple shift change everything —
pause, locate it, and write it down.

Your body has always been speaking.

It's time to listen.

Two Wings of a Bird — for moments exactly like this.

As a psychologist, one of the most common things I hear is —
"I know what I should feel. I just don't know how to sit with it."

That's exactly who this journal was written for.
Not for the ones looking for a quick fix.
For the ones who are already aware — but need a safe, gentle place to actually land.

Journaling isn't therapy. But done mindfully, it can be one of the most honest conversations you'll ever have.
With yourself.

If the idea of sitting quietly with a pen feels even slightly relieving — that's not a small thing. That's your signal. 🕊️

Two Wings of a Bird is less about fixing you.
It's about accompanying you.

Healing needs both wings. 🕊️

Mindful awareness to truly see what’s within, and compassionate presence to hold it gently. Inspired by mindfulness and the four qualities of loving-kindness, compassion, appreciative joy, and equanimity, Two Wings of a Bird invites you into a soft rhythm — relax, write, relax — where breath, sensations, and emotions are welcomed without judgment.

Because awareness alone isn’t enough. Compassion alone isn’t enough. But together, they create balance, steadiness, and the quiet freedom to just be.

What if the day doesn’t need fixing — just softening a little? 🤍

Some days feel heavy without a clear reason.
Too many tabs open in the mind. Too much held in the body.

This isn’t about writing something deep or impressive.
It’s about pausing long enough to notice what’s already there.

Five small prompts.
One gentle reset.
A few honest lines that bring you back to yourself.

You don’t need an hour.
You just need a moment of willingness.

Save this for a tough day.
And follow for more mindful pauses. 🌿

Begin gently. Trust your rhythm. 🎶
Your journal is not meant to be perfect—it's meant to be yours. Save this as a reminder when you sit down to write.

Have you ever noticed how some thoughts only arrive at night?
When the world quiets down, the lamp is dim, and there’s no one left to perform for—only yourself.

This journal was created for those moments.
Not to fix what’s broken, not to rush clarity—but to sit with what’s real. I’ve seen, again and again in my clinical work, how writing in safe, unhurried ways helps emotions soften, settle, and find language. When feelings are written, they don’t have to stay heavy inside the body.

Two Wings of a Bird is an invitation to pause.
To listen inward. To hold your experiences with kindness rather than judgement. You don’t need to know what you’re feeling before you begin—sometimes the writing helps you discover it.

If you’ve been carrying more than you say out loud,
this journal is meant to sit beside you—quietly, patiently—until you’re ready to write.

Writing can steady the mind and soften the body.
It helps thoughts slow down, emotions settle, and awareness grows.

Across the brain, body, and everyday life, journaling supports reflection, resilience, and rest—without pressure or performance.

A gentle practice. A quiet companion.

Some things arrive softly.
After a pause. After listening.
This journal was born from years of sitting with stories—spoken, written, and sometimes left unsaid.

Two Wings of a Bird has been put together by me, Bhavana Kumarswamy, a Clinical Psychologist with an MPhil from MAHE, along with my team. Journaling and narrative approaches have always been central to my therapeutic work. Over the years, many of my clients have shared how writing supported them in managing stress, understanding emotions, and feeling emotionally held—especially during times when words were hard to find.

What began as something I created for my clients is now offered more openly, for anyone seeking a journal rooted in psychotherapy, reflection, and cultural sensitivity. My approach draws from narrative practices, lifespan development, cultural diversity, and mindfulness inspired by Buddhist principles. I have seen how slowing down to write allows emotions to settle, take shape, and be met with compassion rather than urgency.

As psychiatrist Viktor Frankl wrote, “Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response.”
For me, journaling often becomes that space—a quiet pause where experience can be witnessed gently.

Two Wings of a Bird is not about writing well or finding answers quickly.
It is an invitation to notice tone beneath words, emotions beneath thoughts, and to reflect at one’s own pace—with self-compassion and kindness.
