Changes to 4020 Fraud Public Interest Criteria

Significant changes have been introduced to the 4020 Public Interest Criteria.
4020 can result in refusal of a visa application if false or misleading information is provided. Previously, Immigration would look at information provided in either:

the current application being processed; or
a visa which has been held by the applicant within the last 12 months; or
an application which has been refused in the last 3 years (or 5 years in some cases).
The changes will mean that an application can be refused if false or misleading information is provided for:
Visas held; or
Visas applied for

Within the last 10 years.
In other words, if false or misleading information is provided in a visa application, it could affect future applications for up to 10 years.

Previously, it was possible to withdraw a visa application if false or misleading information had been provided and this would not necessarily result in 4020 refusals for future applications. This will no longer work as 4020 will apply for any visa applications made within the last 10 years, whether the application is granted, refused or withdrawn.

One of the commonly encountered issues with 4020 is the failure to declare past criminal records when making a visa application. Generally, a declaration about previous offences is included in the visa application form. If this is not correctly completed, it can trigger 4020 issues. This would affect both the current application, and potentially any future applications for the next 10 years.

You are not the only one who is going to face difficulties in getting good scores in the PTE-A Test. To score 70+ is not a piece of cake even for the ones who are well acquainted in using and working with computer. There are certain influential factors that work in tandem. Let us quickly visit some of the major problems that a PTE Test Taker faces.

Time to practice: For working professionals as well as many other individuals, sometimes it is tough to take out time from their busy schedules to prepare for the PTE Test.

Place: When there are the confinements of bricks & mortar, you become bound to get adjusted with environment. At times, it becomes difficult when you want to practice more. Such limitations can make preparation unreasonably tough.

Practice Materials: Plenty of online and offline materials might be available for you to practice. However, many a times you will get confused on which material to refer, at what time and also determine if they are helpful. An unorganised practise is as good as no practise.

Continuous Evaluation: Many test takers neglect the importance of learning step by step and improving with each step. What they fail to notice is that with each small progress the overall score only increases.

Test-like experience: Without practising the complete test at one go, you are definitely not going to be able to know your exact performance. It is different to practice individual questions and giving a full length test in one attempt.

Time management: If you have searched even a little about the PTE test, then you might already be knowing that time plays a crucial role in the test. In the entire test, almost all the questions are time locked directly or indirectly.

From the 1st november 2017, Engineers Australia accepts the Pearson’s Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) as the evidence of applicant’s English language competency.

The minimum acceptable score is 50 in each of the 4 modules of Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking.

The test result form must be less than 2 years old at the time of lodgement of the assessment application.

Please note, you must send your PTE Academic score through Pearson’s online secure portal to “Engineers Australia” so that we can verify your result. Please refer to Pearson’s website for the detailed instructions on how to do it.
