MINE CLOSURE MEDICAL CAMP

*Venue:* Chandameta Club, Chhindwara

As part of the mine closure welfare initiatives,

Under the valuable guidance of Mr. Hemant Sharad Pande Sir (CMD) Mr. L. K. Mohapatra Sir (AGM), Dr. Shashishankar Sir (CMS), and Dr. A. K. Gupta Sir (AMO), a mine closure Camp was successfully conducted at chandametta club by Barkuhi Central Hospital on 22 May 2026 at Chandameta Club. The objective was to provide basic health screening, identify non-communicable diseases, and offer primary care and referral guidance to mine closure beneficiaries and their families.

The camp was conducted in association with Vivanta Hospital, Chhindwara. A team of doctors, nurses, and paramedical staff from the hospital provided medical consultation, screening, and counseling services.

A total of *20 beneficiaries* attended the camp.

Services Provided
1. *Screening:* Blood pressure, blood sugar, and general physical examination.
2. *Consultation:* Doctors provided clinical consultation based on symptoms and findings.
3. *Primary Medication:* Basic medicines were dispensed on-site for immediate relief and symptomatic management.
4. *Counseling & Advice:* Patients were counseled on lifestyle modifications, diet, and medication adherence.
5. *Referral:* All patients with uncontrolled DM, uncontrolled HTN, and other significant findings were advised to follow up at the nearest government hospital for further investigation and long-term management.

The camp helped in early identification of uncontrolled chronic conditions among the beneficiary population. Timely referral to government hospitals will ensure continuity of care and prevent complications.

It is recommended to conduct follow-up camps and awareness sessions on lifestyle diseases and pain management for sustained health outcomes.

First Ever Phaco Cataract Surgery Successfully Conducted at Barkuhi Central Hospital

Barkuhi Central Hospital, Pench Area, achieved a significant milestone with the successful completion of the first ever Phaco Cataract Surgery on 17.05.2026 by Dr. A. K. Gupta sir , Opthlamologist and AMO incharge B*H under the guidance of Respected Dr Hemant Sharad Pande sir CMD WCL , Respected Mr L. K. Mohapatra Sir AGM pench area and Respected Dr. Shashishankar sir CMS inch WCL .

The procedure marks an important advancement in ophthalmic services at B*H, bringing modern cataract treatment facilities closer to beneficiaries of the area.

The surgery was successfully carried out with the dedicated assistance of nursing staff Rubi Naj and Brother Satyendra Choudhary.

Successful Orthopedic Surgery at Central Hospital Barkuhi

✨ Under the valuable guidance of Mr. Hemant Sharad Pande Sir (D-HR), Mr. L. K. Mohapatra Sir (AGM), Dr. Shashishankar Sir (CMS), and Dr. A. K. Gupta Sir (AMO), the procedure was carried out smoothly and successfully.

A 75-year-old patient, Chandrabhan Prajapati, underwent a successful Left Hemiarthroplasty for fracture neck of femur (left side) at our hospital. The procedure was conducted under Combined Spinal Epidural (CSE) anaesthesia, ensuring optimal patient safety and comfort.

The surgery was expertly performed by Dr. Amar Karale, with anaesthesia support from Dr. Daulat Shende. The dedicated OT teamβ€”Sister Prema, Brother Satender, OT Assistants Basant, Raghuveer, Vikram, and Aya Sundarbaiβ€”played a crucial role in ensuring smooth conduct of the procedure.

The patient tolerated the surgery well and is currently stable post-operatively.

Under the guidance of Mr. L. K. Mohapatra Sir, AGM Pench Area, and Dr. A. K. Gupta Sir, AMO, the World Day for Safety and Health at Work was observed at the Area GM Office with participation of officers, staff, and trade union representatives.

*1. Background*
World Day for Safety and Health at Work is observed globally on 28 April every year under the aegis of the International Labour Organization (ILO) to promote the prevention of occupational accidents and diseases. In compliance with corporate directives and to reinforce our commitment to β€œZero Harm”, the day was observed at the Area GM Office with active participation of executives, employees, and trade union representatives.

*2. Inaugural Activities for ILO World Day 2026*

*a. Unfurling of the Mine Safety Flag*
The programme commenced at 09:30 Hrs with the ceremonial unfurling of the Mine Safety Flag at the Area GM Office premises. The flag was unfurled by the Area General Manager, symbolizing the area’s collective pledge towards maintaining the highest standards of safety and health at work.

*b. Administration of the Safety Oath*
The Safety Oath was administered by Area Safety Officer Shri P.Y. Paunikar. All officers, staff, and employees present took the oath, reaffirming their commitment to adhere to safety rules, follow Standard Operating Procedures, report unsafe acts/conditions, and contribute proactively to accident prevention.

*c. Reading of the Safety Message*
The Safety Message from Chairman, CIL/CMD/Director was read out by Area General Manager Shri Mohapatra. The message emphasized CIL’s vision of creating a safe and healthy workplace, highlighted the importance of behavioural safety, and called upon every employee to make safety a personal responsibility. Special emphasis was laid on the 2026 ILO theme focusing on safe and healthy working environments as a fundamental right.

*3. Awareness Talk*

A safety awareness session was conducted for all employees of the Area GM Office by Dr. Akshay C. Dahiwele.

1. *Psychosocial Well-being*: Recognizing workplace stress, importance of communications


*4. Participation*
The programme was attended by Area GM, executives, staff of Area GM Office, representatives of trade unions, and safety committee members. Approx. 35 persons participated.

The observance of World Day for Safety and Health at Work 2026 was carried out successfully as per schedule. The activities helped in renewing safety awareness and reinforcing the importance of both physical and psychosocial aspects of workplace safety. Regular follow-up sessions and tool-box talks will be continued to sustain the momentum.

Under the guidance of Shree L.K. Mohapatra Sir, AGM Pench Area and Dr. A.K. Gupta Sir, AMO Incharge, B*H, an awareness session on Tuberculosis (TB) and HIV/AIDS was successfully conducted today at Kendriya Vidyalaya, Pench WCL by Dr. Akshay Dahiwele

The session aimed to educate and sensitize school students and teachers regarding these important public health issues. Awareness was created among the participants about:
β€’ Tuberculosis (TB): Causes, mode of spread, early symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment.
β€’ HIV/AIDS: Signs and symptoms, modes of transmission, and preventive measures.

The session was interactive and informative, encouraging students to adopt healthy practices and spread awareness in the community.
