Kalwari - Little Flower Ashram
The aim of starting this Ashram was to extend our activities to rural areas especially in the field of education and health care, keeping up the spirit of our founder Very Rev Fr Basilius Panat CST. In the field of education, both formal and informal methods are aimed at and in the field of health care a formal dispensary and village health Programmes are specially functioning in this Mission.Kalwari Mission was started with the support and explicit desire of St. Konrad Mission Council, Germany. While helping St. Basil's English Medium school in Basti they wanted us to start a Hindi medium school in a village with rural health care and such other programmes
The registration of the land was done on 2nd of July 1993. Fr John Kulathinkal was appointed in charge of the station and he began to stay in a rented house and started his work. First of March 1994 onwards he began to stay in the newly constructed Priest house. The blessing of the Little Flower Ashram took place on 8th of November 1994. The School was informally inaugurated on 18th July 1994. As the School was under construction he decided to run the School in the convent building. Little Flower School Kalwari was started with 96 children. Four sisters from the Congregation of the Missionary Sisters of the Queen of the Apostles came from Varanasi to this Mission on 30th of June 1995. Pushpanjali, the new community health centre was inaugurated and blessed by Rt. Dominic Kokkat CST, the Bishop of Gorakhpur on 3rd July 1995. Fr John began to treat snake bite cases and now it is continued by SRA Sisters. People from far and wide come here to get treatment for snake bite. Now the development work is going on in 22 villages. Fr John Kulathinkal handed over the office to Fr. Jose Paul on 21 August 1997. He made much effort in bringing up the School. Fr Jose Paul handed over the responsibilities of the Mission to Fr Binoy Paalakuzhy on 24th June 2003. Due to his hard work and enthusiasm he obtained recognition for Primary School and Junior High School and the first batch of Class X came out with flying colours in 2005. Fr Binoy handed over the office to Fr. Roy Vattakara on 24th June 2005. In July 2006 the School was approved by the Board of Education, Varanasi and was given the recognition for High School in November 2006. At present we have 700 students in the School.
