In my opinion except accidental cases 90% surgeries are redundant and can be prevented with proper lifestyle only. Our body have wonderful recovery mechanism better then any science available in today or future time ,And we had to to provide body the environment in which it heal itself naturally without any surgeries or Medicine .We are developing mechanism (Non Pe*******on Therapy) by which we can recover 80%-90% disorders without any Life Threatening Surgeries or Injurious medicine (Those which never safe humans)
