Rahu is unfulfilled Desires..Rahu is the reason why one takes birth in this planet..Rahu is s*x, glamour, drugs, social media, internet. Rahu is the desire to win in competition, Rahu is the desire to get a beautiful spouse , a wonderful car, a well paid job and caeer.Rahu is everything you see and feel.Rahu is the illusion behind which everyone is running in this world.( Except 10 percent of people who follow spiritual paths)
Rahu in short is the MAYA that binds everyone to this materialistic plane.Without Rahu, there is no motivation to do anything.Rahu is everything in this kaliyug.
Ketu is just opposite of Rahu..Rahu is everything whereas ketu is nothing.ketu is spirituality of the highest order.ketu can take you to vainkhut where God Vishnu lives.spiritual people wait for ketu dasa, as this dasa can take them away from this maya.
I will try to explain Rahu through a story..
Narada,who is a great devotee of God Vishnu, saw some saints in Vishnu loka.They were discussing that how they reached vainkhuta after so much difficulty and how difficult it is to handle Maya and conquer it.
Narada had never experienced Maya as he was never born to a mother in a materialistic world.
At that time, lord Krishna had taken birth in human form and was rulling Dwarka.Narada went to Krishna and asked about Maya and said, β My lord I want to know about Maya and I want to conquer it".
Krishna smiled and said β ok , let us go for a walk and I will tell you about Mayaβ
Both of them walked for a long time and krishna was explaining how meditation and controlling your thoughts can check Maya.After a long walk, krishna said to Narada that he is now thisty and he need some water.
Narada repled ,β Give me 2 minutes, I will bring water from this nearby village.β
Then Narada ran to the nearby village and saw a well where a young woman was fetching water.He asked for a small container to take water for lord Krishna.The woman replied with a gentle smile , β yes I will give you a container".
Narada was mesmerized by the beautiful smile of the woman and could not think of anything else than the smile of the lady.He decided immediately that he wants to marry her and wants to live with her for eternity .So, he proposed the lady and also asked her father for marrying her daughter.The woman's father was the leader of the village and he also happily agreed to the proposal but with one condition that Narada will stay in this village and take care of every villager.
Narada happily agreed and marriage took place.soon the village became prosperous and everyone in the village was happy .Narada became father of 4 children and he was immensely happy with his wife and children.Everything was full of joy and happiness.
But after few years, a big tsunami came and there was water everywhere.The entire village got wiped out.All villagers died and their home got destroyed by this huge flood.The water now reached Narada' s home.The flood took away his wife and his 3 children .Narada was holding his small child who was only 3 years old but the violent water also took the baby and Narada could do nothing .
Just when Narada was drowning in the water , lord Krishna came and took him out of water.
Narada was crying and begged krishna to bring back his family and his children.He was crying non stop.
Then krishna touched his forehead and said β wake up Narad"
Narada rubbed his eyes and saw that there was no one out there and it was the same place where Narada ran for bringing water for lord Krishna.
Krishna said,β hey Narada , I guess you have got some knowledge of my Maya now, as you had completely forgotten about me .I was waiting for you as I was feeling very thirstyβ.
Narada fell in the feet of Krishna and replied, β lord I am very grateful that I don't have to go through maya to be with you and I really appreciate those who win over this Maya to reach you.β
God has created Maya or in other words Rahu, to filter out the best soul .only the pure spiritual soul can beat this maya and enter vainkhuta where there is complete peace and nothingness.
The answer to your question regarding remedies for Rahu mahadasa is hidden in the story itself.
