But that’s not the full story.
•l Studies show that long-term runners have healthier, more hydrated discs and slower spinal aging than people who don’t move at all.
That’s right, your spine doesn’t wear out from movement...
It wears out from lack of it.
Your discs are living tissue. They adapt.
7 Movement makes them stronger.

X Many people are focused solely on their pain...
Rightfully so, I get it...
But if you focus too closely you may often miss the big picture of your function that may be falsely discouraging you and holding you back from recovery!
This could provide a false perception that you are not healing, and could keep you stuck.
* The key here is to understand that even if your low back pain is the exact same, but you can move more or exercise longer than before that your low back is progressing!
Being able to perform functional tasks for longer means progress!
Do not purely obsess on the fact that there is pain, but rather on what you are able to do!
This is progress and means you are getting better! No quick fixes, but steps the right direction will build and build and you will realize you are getting your life back!

What does weight on your spine do?
X Many people with or without back pain are told that putting weight on their spine is hard on their low back, or
bad for their discs.
This discourages individuals from loading their spine, or thinking that pressure on their discs is bad.
However, this often leads to more pain and disability!
* The key here is that recent research shows that weight on a disc actually improves the size (hydration) of a disc, and the content profile (the disc matrix).
What does this mean?
It means putting weight on your discs can be a good thing!
Of course, if you are in a lot of pain we don’t expect you to go put a barbell on your back and do squats.
We need to figure out how to get you out of pain first, and then guide you back to being strong and stable again so the results last the rest of your life!

MRI findings do not predict pain or function.
