Is it just me or are snakes seen in every symbol related to healing..??? What is it with snakes and healers or medicine? From Hermes's staff which has two snakes to Asclepius's (actual god of medicine's caduceus) having a single one, to Tsirona (having a bowl and a snake), to paramedic's symbol, to historical pictures from every era to now involving medicine has snake(s) in them....
