Remembering a Billion Sparks.
We have survived a century in poverty. However, that is not success in its true sense.
Poverty does not kill us as much in hunger and death as it kills us culturally- in diminishing our awe for novelty; in making us believe more in impossibility than in opportunity, in turning us corrupt as a people.
We are today surrounded by corruption in more abundance than honesty. Each of us, has made for himself- a small room for compromise of own moral standards. And in the process, has allowed his peer to do the same. Every one therefore fears the other to an extent and the transaction is done in the name of respect.
This independence day is to remind that fear and respect are fundamentally two different entities. No idea is dumb enough to not deserve a trial. That each one has a potential to bring about that change. And that the provision of rewarding honesty should supersede the one of punishing otherwise.
We are not what our circumstances have made us. We are beyond and in spite of all circumstances- a country of a billion sparks.
