How does PCOS affect fertility and ovulation?
PCOS and infertility are often spoken about together — and for good reason.
The main issue in PCOS is a hormonal imbalance, which disrupts the menstrual cycle and affects ovulation.
When androgen (male hormone) levels rise, the natural process of egg development gets disturbed. Instead of one mature egg releasing every month, ovulation becomes irregular or may not happen at all. Add insulin resistance — which commonly co-occurs with PCOS — and the hormonal imbalance becomes even stronger.
The result?
💛 irregular periods
💛 unpredictable or missed ovulation
💛 difficulty conceiving
In simple terms: PCOS doesn’t cause infertility, but it can make conception harder.
Fertility challenges in PCOS usually come from a combination of:
• irregular ovulation
• high androgen levels
• insulin resistance
• hormonal imbalance
• reduced egg quality
The good news?
PCOS-related infertility is treatable and manageable.
With lifestyle changes, nutrition, exercise, medication to regulate hormones and ovulation, and (if needed) treatments like IUI or IVF, many women are able to conceive. In fact, some women respond so well to early treatment that they conceive naturally.
PCOS may make the journey slower — but hope and solutions exist. 💛✨

🌱 Planning for Parenthood? Let’s Talk About Male Fertility Too!
When couples start their journey to parenthood, conversations often focus on the woman’s age — but did you know the male partner’s age can be just as important? 👀
Research shows that as men age, s***m quality can decline, affecting factors like:
S***m count
Motility (how well s***m move)
Morphology (shape + size)
DNA integrity
Just like women, male fertility also changes over time — it’s a slower decline, but it does happen. This can make fertilisation more challenging.
Older paternal age has also been linked to higher risks of:
Preterm birth
Low birth weight
Gestational diabetes
Miscarriage — especially when both partners are of advanced age
The good news? 💡
There are many ways to address male-related fertility concerns, and seeking a proper medical evaluation is a great first step.
✨ Fertility is a team journey — understanding both sides matters.

What does wellness really mean when it comes to fertility? 🌱
Fertility is not just a physical process — it’s deeply connected to your mind, body, and emotional well-being. When these are in harmony, the journey to conception feels calmer, more confident, and more supported.
True fertility wellness comes from a blend of:
✨ medical guidance
🥗 nourishing nutrition
🧘‍♀️ stress management
🌿 and complementary approaches that nurture balance
Mind–body techniques can ease the emotional strain of fertility treatments, while integrative approaches may reduce side effects, improve outcomes, and promote holistic healing.
Wellness is all about feeling well, whole, and ready. 💛

What is the difference between ‘infertility’ and ‘subfertility’?
Infertility and subfertility are two words often used interchangeably, yet they mean very different things.
💛 Infertility means being unable to conceive after a year of regular, unprotected in*******se — usually requiring medical support to achieve pregnancy.
🌱 Subfertility, however, means conception is still possible — it may just take longer, with a chance of happening naturally over time.
Both can be emotionally challenging, but understanding the difference helps in finding the right treatment and support.
If you’re struggling, know that help and hope exist — and you’re not alone. 💫

How can couples support each other through the fertility journey?
Trying to conceive can start out hopeful, but month after month, it can begin to feel heavy — not just physically, but emotionally and intimately too.
Remember: you and your partner are on the same team.
Here are small ways to support each other through the journey:
• Go for counselling together, not just individually
• Move your bodies as a pair — even a simple evening walk helps
• Prioritize 7–8 hours of restful sleep
• Make space for hobbies and joy outside the TTC journey
• Speak to a psychologist if the emotional weight feels too much
• Let intimacy be spontaneous again — not a scheduled task
• Be mindful of what (and whom) you take advice from
You are not alone. You are navigating something tender — and it’s okay to ask for support 🤍

Is it possible to have PCOS with regular periods?
Polycystic o***y syndrome (PCOS) is a hormonal disorder affecting millions of women worldwide. While irregular menstrual cycles are a common symptom, many individuals experience regular periods and still meet the diagnostic criteria.
In other words, PCOS doesn’t look the same for everyone. While many women have irregular cycles, others continue to experience monthly cycles and still meet the criteria for PCOS.
So if your periods are regular but you’ve been noticing things like:
• Persistent acne
• Excess facial/body hair
• Hair thinning
• Weight gain or difficulty losing weight
• Signs of insulin resistance or fatigue
— your hormones may still be asking for attention.
PCOS is diagnosed based on the whole picture — symptoms, blood work, and medical history — not just your cycle.
A comprehensive evaluation, including a detailed medical history and hormonal assessment, is essential for an accurate diagnosis, so it essential to seek a doctor’s diagnosis if one or more of the above symptoms are observed.
