I am excited to share my experience as a panelist at the Coimbatore Obstetric & Gynecological Society (COGS) CME on October 11, 2025, in Coimbatore, where I discussed menopause nutrition under the theme "Inevitable Menopause - Age Like Fine Wine." The session highlighted the benefits of a holistic approach during menopause.
The event reinforced menopause as a natural life phase and showcased how a holistic approach can enhance well-being.
Dr. Sudha, Joint Secretary of COGS, emphasized the evidence-based updates along with her enormous humor sense , played a crucial role in the event's success. I am grateful to her, the speakers, fellow panelists, Secertary Dr.Saradha Jaganathan, President Dr.Chandrakala Maran Chair persons Dr.Vyjanthi Venkatakrishnan and Dr.Amudha Giridhar, moderater Dr.Saraswathi Shakthi and the supportive community of gynecologists for fostering valuable discussions and a sense of community.
The gentle rain outside added to the memorable experience, leaving me inspired to advocate for holistic women's health.

"It’s not just about protein, but also what comes with it! Both plant proteins and lean meats are excellent sources for muscle repair and growth.
Plant-based proteins (legumes, nuts, seeds) are typically lower in saturated fat and calories while being rich in fiber and antioxidants that animal products lack.
Lean meats (poultry, fish) are "complete proteins," containing all nine essential amino acids. They are also a great source of nutrients like vitamin B12, iron, and zinc.
The key is balance!
A varied diet including both is best for overall well-being, as long as you choose unprocessed options and watch your portion sizes."

"Not all carbs are created equal!"
🌾 Whole grains like traditional rice, millets, oats, and quinoa are complex carbohydrates. They include all three parts of the grain—the bran, germ, and endosperm—which means they are packed with fiber, B vitamins, and minerals like magnesium and iron. Their slower digestion provides sustained energy and helps regulate blood sugar levels, reducing the risk of heart disease and type 2 diabetes.
Simple carbs, found in white bread, pastries, and sugary drinks, are quickly broken down, causing a sharp spike in blood sugar. Over time, this can lead to insulin resistance and weight gain.
"Make the switch for better health!"

I had the distinct pleasure of presenting a session on meal planning strategies aimed at preventing and managing chronic diseases on August 19, 2025. This opportunity arose through the kind invitation of Ms. Priya Murali, Vice President of Kovai Mahila Samithi, and Dr. Sowbarnika, Factory Medical Officer, who hosted the event for the spouses of ITC PSPD managerial employees in Kendaiyur R.F., Coimbatore. Approximately 50 enthusiastic women gathered in a cozy conference room, beautifully situated amidst nature. In addition to the presentation, I had the honor of judging a rangoli competition, which celebrated the artistic talents and community spirit of the participants. The picturesque surroundings enriched our discussions, and we concluded the day with an enjoyable game of tambola.

A Delayed Update from March 14, 2025.
I presented a topic titled “Defining the Importance of a Healthy Diet” during an online Faculty Development Program on Advancing Academic Skills & Insights from Women Achievers, organized by the Department of English at Hindustan College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore.
It was heartening to see such engagement and enthusiasm from the participants, who eagerly shared their own experiences and challenges related to maintaining a balanced diet. The discussion highlighted the importance of integrating simple yet effective strategies into daily routines to improve overall well-being.
One of the key takeaways from the session was the emphasis on mindfulness when it comes to eating habits. We explored how being more conscious of our food choices can lead to better health outcomes and greater satisfaction. Participants were encouraged to start small, perhaps by incorporating more fruits and vegetables into their meals or by setting aside time for a leisurely, undistracted meal.
Additionally, I touched upon the role of community support in sustaining these changes. By fostering a supportive environment, whether it be through family, friends, or colleagues, individuals can find the encouragement and accountability needed to pursue healthier habits.
Overall, the session was a reminder of the power of education and community in transforming lives. It was a privilege to witness the faculty’s commitment to personal growth and to know that our discussion may inspire lasting positive changes in their lives.
I sincerely thank Dr. Anitha, Head of the Department of Food Processing and Technology at Hindustan College of Arts and Science.
