Prof Dr SK Chhabra is Head, Department of Pulmonary, Sleep and Critical Care Medicine at Primus Hospital, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi.
Prof Chhabra has been associated with the prestigious Vallabh bhai Patel Chest Institute for more than three decades after obtaining his postgraduate qualification from the same Institute. He was incharge of the Intensive Care Unit and in-patient services and the Pulmonary Function laboratory of the Institute.
A physician of great repute and a highly respected teacher, Dr Chhabra has been active in several areas of research, both basic and applied, in the discipline of Pulmonary Medicine and allied sciences. His students now man the chest departments of hospitals not only in India but also in other countries.
His research and clinical interests include asthma, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary disease, interstitial lung diseases like sarcoidosis and interstitial fibrosis, lung infections, pulmonary function and health effects of air pollution. He is one of the top names in India and internationally in asthma, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary disease and lung function testing.
He has over 130 publications in prestigious indexed international and national journals and is the recipient of several awards from scientific associations.
