It is good that India has fallen one rank lower than before in alcohol consumption. However, in protein consumption, India has still not even reached the top 100 countries. This shows that while alcohol use may be decreasing, our focus on proper nutrition and protein intake still needs improvement.

Many Indian patients worry that eating protein will damage their liver, so they repeatedly ask doctors and dietitians if protein is “safe.”
Ironically, they often ignore the real danger — regular alcohol intake — even when health experts clearly advise them to stop drinking.
True liver protection comes from reducing alcohol and following a balanced, protein-rich diet, not fearing nutritious foods.
