What is Dandruff?
Though dandruff needs no formal introduction yet it is the shedding of dead skin cells of the scalp. Skin cells also die and a little bit of flaking is well within normal boundaries. For most people, it is an ongoing problem which not only results in hair fall but also causes the hair to fall. Your dermatologist or trichologist can recommend shampoos and other overnight lotions with active ingredients to mitigate dandruff problems.

To get the best results, you must follow the instructions given on the bottle of the product you are using. For instance, some shampoos may rather well while others may have to be applied and washed off while still others cannot be left on the scalp for some time. Not only the product, but its usage also determines whether or not the product would work for you

What are the causes of dandruff?
Avoiding shampooing: If the hairs are not washed often, the skin cells and oils on the head skin can develop dandruff.
Skin oiliness and irritation: This condition, a standout amongst the most incessant reasons for dandruff, is set apart by red, oily skin under flaky yellow or white scales. Seborrheic dermatitis may influence your scalp and different regions wealthy in oil gland, for example, armpits, the sides of the nose, crotch zone, the backs of the ears, eyebrows, crotch zone, and breastbone.
Yeast parasite: A parasite, named Malassezia which found on the head skin of grown-ups commonly. In some cases, it aggravates the head skin and develops more skin cells. The additional skin cells kick the Malasseziadie and tumble off, causing them to seem white and flaky in your hair or on your garments. Why Malassezia bothers a few scalps isn't known.
Dry skin: The crumbs of the dry scalp are commonly little less greasy than the other reasons for dandruff. The redness or irritation is improbable. Other then the scalp, dry skin also appears at different places of the body, for example, arms and legs.
Affectability to hair care items: In some cases, sensitivities to specific fixings in hair care items or hair colours can cause a red, bothersome, textured scalp.
What vitamin deficiency causes dandruff?
Nutrient-poor diet is also a major cause for dandruff. Foods rich in vitamins like niacin (vitamin B3), riboflavin (vitamin B2) and pyridoxine (vitamin B6) helps in reducing the skin related issues.

What are the Symptoms of Dandruff?
Some of the symptoms that are commonly visible if a person having dandruff are crumbs or flakes on the head skin. In the initial stage, these flakes are white & small followed by the yellow and greasy appearance by the end. These flakes further create itchiness on the scalp and other parts such as nose, ears, around the hairline, chest or back and eyebrows.

How dandruff is diagnosed by doctors?
Scalp examinations are usually used to determine why excessive dandruff is present. After the examination of the scalp, the cause of the condition is most often obvious. Sometimes though a scalp biopsy may be in order in such a procedure, local anaesthesia is applied and a sample of the skin of the scalp is taken for further investigation.

What is the best treatment for severe dandruff?
Seborrhea or dandruff is treated by fighting the inflammation of the skin. This may be achieved directly through the use of lotions and creams based on cortisone which reduces the inflammation. Another treatment is to put into use topical shampoos and lotions that deter yeast. The direction of dandruff treatment is usually dictated by the cause which is behind the condition.

Frequently oiling the scalp with the essential oils and interchanging an effective anti-dandruff shampoo with a moisturizer in order to remove the existing flakes and provide smoothness to the scalp. If you still have dandruff after implementing these procedures, then it is advised to visit a dermatologist for getting a stronger treatment.

HOMEOPATHIC TREATMENT OF MELASMA
Are you troubled regarding the change in color or pigmentation on your face? Pigmentation problems can impinge on any person from teenage years to old age encumbering your good looks and personality. Melasma is a discoloration of brown patches in an identical pattern on either side of the face, mainly on cheeks, nose, forehead, chin and upper lips. Melasma is generally mistaken for a tan and overlooked by people thinking it will fade away gradually. Anything that arouses the production of pigment producing cells or melanin pigment in the skin can lead to Melasma. Melasma is more customary in women, but at times can concern men too.

Causes of Melasma:
• Hereditary.
• Hormonal imbalance caused by oral contraceptive pills, hormonal changes during pregnancy, or hormonal replacement therapy.
• Prolonged sun exposure.
• Photo sensitizing medications, after shave lotions, cosmetics and toiletries.
• Sometimes cause can be unidentified.
• Repeated pregnancies can deepen the pigmentation.
• Folic acid deficiency.
• Ovarian or thyroid disorder.
• Stress.

Symptoms of Melasma:
• Symmetrical discolored patches on either side of the face.

Homeopathic approach to Melasma:
Homoeopathic medicines have shown very optimistic results in cases of Melasma. Homeopathy offers a comprehensive constitutional treatment, which gets to the root of the problem and helps build up immunity and in due course restores the pigmented patches back to the normal skin color. Homoeopathy considers Melasma as a local expression of a system disturbance. Homeopathy believes that skin disorders are a reflection of an internal imbalance and needs to be treated from within. Homeopathic constitutional approach takes care of hyperpigmentation along with treating the person as a whole and improving the general health of the patient. Homeopathic remedies treat the hormonal imbalance and control the excessive production of Melanin. This further improves the texture of the skin, reduces occurrence of new patches, and slowly reverts to its normal condition without leaving any blemishes.
As Homeopathy treats Melasma from within, when the constitutional treatment is completed satisfactorily, it is unlikely that the patches reappear again as compared to treatment with conventional medicines. Homeopathic remedies are natural, gentle, harmless and easy to take, are also regulated by the FDA and prepared according to the Homeopathic Pharmacopeia of the United States.

FOODS YOU SHOULD NEVER EAT IN MONSOON

There is a number of food products that can cause more harm than good when had during monsoon. Here are a few kinds of foods that are best avoided during monsoon. Several fall sick in the monsoon season due to infections and eating foods that are laden with germs. This season renders our digestive system sensitive and weak. If you want to cut this risk, avoid eating these foods in the rains.

Pakoras:
Pakoras with tea is an irresistible snack during monsoons. However they are deep-fried which is unhealthy even if cooked at home. Humidity levels are generally high during the rainy season because of which body’s digestive ability is reduced. Therefore, avoid heavy and oily food as it can lead to an upset stomach. Pakoras sold outside are extremely unhygienic and harmful for consumption as one cannot keep control on the contents used.

Roadside juices:
The juices sold on the road can be made out of stale fruits or fruits that are cut well in advance and have a good chance to get infected during monsoons. Likewise it is also necessary to avoid fruit salad sold on the road as they are cut in advance and may get infected. Prepare your juices at home using fresh fruits and consume instantly.

Leafy vegetables:
It is a known fact the leafy vegetables are highly important for health. However, it is recommended to avoid consumption of leafy veggies during monsoon. The dampness, dirt and mud present in the leaves make these veggies susceptible to many germs, leading to different stomach infections. If it is musthave for someone, it is ideal to thoroughly wash them before cooking them.

Chaat:
Chaat is another roadside snack every Indian loves to relish. Chaat that includes gol gappas, bhel puri, dahi puri might be made with contaminated water. Chances of usage of contaminated water while making these snacks are high leading to infections. The chutney used in this chaats also need not be hygienic if the water used is infected. These infections can lead to diseases like diarrhea or jaundice.

Fizzy Drinks :
Fizzy drinks reduce minerals in our body, which in turn leads to reduction of enzyme activity. This is highly undesirable with an already weak digestive system. Keep a bottle of water or nimbu paani handy or stick to warm beverages like ginger tea. Your digestive system will thank you for it.

Fried Food :
Fried food is one of the food items you should absolutely avoid this rainy season and science backs up on this too. The highly humid monsoon weather causes our digestion process to slow down. However irresistible that spread of pakodas, samosas and kachodi may seem, they could cause gastronomical complications like bloating and stomach upset. Extra salty food also causes water retention.

Sea Food :
Monsoon is the breeding season for fish and prawns so they are best avoided this time of the year. Stick to chicken and mutton to satiate your craving for non-vegetarian food. However, if it absolutely essential to have sea food, make sure you only consume the freshest variety of it, taking extra care to cook them well.

Raw food :
While the benefits of eating raw are aplenty, monsoon makes it risky to eat raw food. This is because the chances of germs and infection are also high. And so, instead of eating raw vegetables, it is best to boil them or steam them before eating. Make sure you wash fruits thoroughly before you consume them. Cut them right before you want to eat them so that the chances of germs are less.

Mushrooms :
Another vegetable that you should consider avoiding in the rains is mushrooms. Mushrooms grow in damp soil and have to be cleaned properly before they are eaten. But the risk of infection and bacterial growth on them is much higher in the monsoons which makes them to this list. It is best to avoid eating mushrooms altogether in the monsoons and do not eat them in salads as they are not the cleanest of all.

Chinese food :
Street side Chinese food should be avoided be it any season. Chinese prepared during monsoon can be more harmful again due to usage of contaminated water and the dirt carried by flies on the road that gets in the food
