That fizzy beverage or cold drink may seem like a refreshing option, but thirsty heart patients should think twice, it’s a silent killer.
Cold drinks are packed with sugar, caffeine and empty calories, spiking blood sugar levels, raising triglycerides and straining the heart muscles. The sudden temperature drop also makes blood vessels constrict, so it’s harder for the heart to pump blood efficiently particularly dangerous for those with heart blockages or a weak ejection fraction.
Regular intake can cause atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries) and even weight gain, high blood pressure and retention of fluid in some patients with congestive heart failure (CHF).
We recommend switching from sweet drinks to warm herbal teas, infused water and zero oil soups.
Tiny lifestyle adjustments can reverse heart disease.
