On the occasion of week, we are delighted to share the first bulletin of our Urban Routine Immunization Project - URZA Bulletin Issue 1, Vol 1, April 2023 (Weblink - https://lnkd.in/dawpPhHk).

This bulletin has been envisioned to give a platform to consolidate the journey of the project so far and further reflect on what is needed to close the urban immunization gaps and challenges. The first issue of URZA (Urban Routine ImmuniZAtion Bulletin) is informed by the theme — Partnership. Through the first issue in the series we intend to share our experience around the need for strengthening urban immunization in geographies — Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, the significance of partnership, major project spotlights, and the key outcomes.

Rapid Immunization Skill Enhancement ( ) Project under JSI | John Snow India Pvt. Ltd. (JSIPL) got the privilege to organize the state launch and a for the health officials at Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, (Aurangabad) Maharashtra on April 20, 2023.

It was a highly engaging and participatory event that was chaired by Dr. Sachin Desai – State Immunization Officer and attended by more than 70 district level and corporation health officials. In the pilot phase of at Pune, which was one of the biggest districts where around 1400 accessed and completed the modules during 2020, despite the huge burden of cases in this state. Now, 3 years later, 6 districts and 9 corporations of Maharashtra are ready to welcome RISE for the of their immunization health workers again.

We look forward to the RISE journey progressing rapidly in this beautiful state!

The fight against Childhood Pneumonia in Jharkhand received a boost as leading experts in the field met for the first convention of the ‘Freedom Consortium for Childhood Pneumonia in Jharkhand’ on February 1, 2023 in Ranchi.

The meeting was convened by the National Health Mission, Jharkhand, and organized by John Snow India Pvt. Ltd. (JSIPL) as part of the USAID-supported SAMVEG project.

The event was graced by officials from USAID - US Agency for International Development and NHM, Jharkhand; Senior child health and public health experts; Service providers from public and private sectors; Development partners and NGOs.

Insightful plenaries & thought-provoking group discussions brought focus on the priority areas for collaborative action. The participants took a pledge to collectively fight against Childhood Pneumonia in Jharkhand.

Pneumonia remains the second leading cause of mortality in children under 5 years old, with nearly 10 deaths daily in Jharkhand alone. Almost all of these deaths are preventable. It's time to act and come together to tackle this issue head-on.

Under the USAID - US Agency for International Development -supported SAMVEG project, JSIPL in partnership with National Health Mission Jharkhand is taking the lead and organizing a Freedom Consortium for Childhood Pneumonia in Jharkhand.

Let's join forces and work towards ending this preventable tragedy.

JSIPL launched its ‘SPECIAL’ initiative to Improve the Quality of Prematurity Care in private facilities under USAID supported SAMVEG project on Sep 27, 2022.

The initiative aims to improve MNCH outcomes in the private sector through professional bodies Federation of Obstetric and Gynaecological Societies of India - FOGSI and Indian Academy Of Pediatrics IAP.

We were highly encouraged by the presence of leadership team from Govt. of India, Govt. of Jharkhand, USAID India, Federation of Obstetric and Gynaecological Societies of India - FOGSI, Indian Academy Of Pediatrics, NNF and a host of private sector partners. The rich discussions proved useful in planning this exciting private sector initiative.

Breastfeeding- benefits to the mother

Project Tushti’s Mascot Poshan Baa (Grandmother) highlights the benefits of breastfeeding to a lactating mother through this GIF. GIFs on key messages in Gujarati for promoting breastfeeding are being disseminated over WhatsApp groups to ICDS functionaries, pregnant and lactating mothers, and other community members in Devbhumi Dwarka each day starting 1st August as part of breastfeeding week celebration.
