Bleeding Gums?

�Some common causes of bleeding gums are poor brushing techniques, accumulation of plaque and poor oral hygiene.

�A healthy normal gingiva is pinkish in colour and an unhealthy or infected gingiva appears red and swollen and may also start bleeding while brushing.

�Other common causes of bleeding gums is deficiency of Vitamin C which is seen in cases of scurvy.

�Certain medications are also responsible for causing bleeding gums such as anticoagulants, immunosuppressants etc.

�Using a hard bristle toothbrush or very aggressive or improper brushing techniques can also cause injury to the gingiva leading to bleeding gums.

What can we do to prevent bleeding gums?

�Brush twice daily with proper brushing techniques to maintain a good oral hygiene.

�Use a soft bristle toothbrush to prevent injury to the gums.

�Eat a proper balanced diet to prevent the deficiency of Vitamin C which is responsible for causing bleeding gums in cases of scurvy.

�Visit dentist regularly to maintain a good oral health and undergo scaling once a year or as advised by the dentist.

MANDIBULAR TORI – WHAT ARE THOSE BUMPS?
Ever noticed firm, painless lumps on the inside of your lower jaw near your tongue?
These could be mandibular tori - bony outgrowths that some people naturally develop. They’re not dangerous, but they can cause trouble when it comes to making dentures!

⚠️ WHY IT MATTERS:

▪️ Cause soreness or ulcers under the denture
