Although, in many cases, this also works but here the pulp of the lower portion of tooth was not removed completely and the patient was feeling pain.
So, all the pulp was removed and then, the re root canal was done...

This patient got crowns on vital teeth 10 years ago and it is a long bridge of 6 caps. So, in such cases, removing such long bridges is difficult, and these 2 teeth were paining, so RCT through the crowns is advised and started as it is much comfortable and a conservative procedure.

It is basically an immune mechanism of the teeth to save themselves....
Just like we get any infection in our body and how the White Blood Cells fight.
