Makarsankranti/ Magh Bihu/ Bhogi/ Lohri/Pongal/Sankran/ Uttarayan...
Many names one festival.. Celebrated across the country by different communities by different names and little variation in practices still the essence remains more or less the same. The common practice of burning the traditional Bonfire at the dawn of the Makarsankranti known as Meji in Assam, Bhogi is Southern States, Lohri in Northern States of India marks the end of the winter solistice and northern movement of the sun(Uttarayana) begins. This is one of the most auspicious day and indicates the first day of Sun's transition into Capricorn- Makar rashi, indicating the ending of the harsh cold months and the imminent arrival of the spring-Vasant ritu. After this day, days start becoming longer and warmer which symbolises a new beginning!
Another common practice is offering prayers to Sun God and taking a holy dip in sacred water bodies. All these traditions reminds us to let go off the past and embrace the new , better, brighter tomorrow.
Burning of the bonfire, Offering to the Sun God or taking a dip in the holy water bodies whatever way you celebrate this transition of Sun God- Makarsankranti- this is the time to look inward and remove all your internal hurdles, all negativities, all past mistakes and embrace a new beginning!!
Happy festivitiesπŸ”₯Enjoy!!
Remember to be safe and healthy

Rasa(taste): Katu(pungent)

Panchamahabhuta (five-elemental) composition: Agni–vayu(fire and air elements)

β€’ Guna(characteristics): Laghu/light and snigdha/unctuous

β€’ Virya(potency): Ushna/hot

β€’ Vipaka(post-digestive effect): Madhura/sweet

β€’ Karma (action): Deepana(stimulates digestion), pachana (digestive), ama vataghna(mitigates ama and Vata), hrdya (good for the heart), anulomana (creates movement), vrishya (aphrodisiac)

Ginger is a well-known remedy that is useful for treating many common digestive and respiratory ailments.

Dry ginger is unctuous, hot, and has some oiliness. Dry ginger is absorbent and bowel binding and thus useful in conditions like IBS (irritable bowel syndrome). It also relieves constipation.

Dry ginger is suitable for long time use without any adverse effects. However, you must check in with a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner if you plan on taking ginger for its medicinal properties.
