Making peace with perfectionism which has held me back from putting myself out there, flaws and all ✌️

The yoga sutras beautifully explain the kleshas (obstacles).
🌺 Once we begin to identify our kleshas through self-awareness and mindful yoga practice, we realize our true self (our truth).
🌺 Addressing these kleshas through a well-intentioned practice guides us along the path of personal growth, embracing our imperfections.

1. Avidya (Ignorance/Not seeing things as they are)
2. Asmita (Sense of I/Ego)
3. Raga (attachment)
4. Dvesha(aversions/avoidance/unreasonable dislikes)
5. Abinivesha(Fear)

🔆 Most likely, you are concentrating your backbend in the lumbar (lower back) region of the spine which is much more mobile than the upper back. Focus on mobilising your thoracic (upper back) and middle back and distributing the bend evenly through the entire spine.

🔆 Lack of proper warmup - think about mobilising your spine in all different directions.

🔆 Tight hip flexors, shoulders, front and sides of the body and to compensate for the same, you tend to put more pressure on the lumbar and overarch.

🔆 Lack strength in the back and hip extensors muscles. Core strength and breath awareness is essential to stabilise and control your backbends.

Work with an experienced teacher who can guide you safely through the progression, providing adjustments and modifications as needed.

Would you like me to do a post on beginner friendly backbending postures for your daily practice, leave me a 'yes' in the comment section🌻

Remember, it's important to listen to your body and respect its limits. Never force any posture that causes pain or discomfort.

🪻Self reflection –
We come to yoga for different reasons – physical, mental or with a desire to connect to the deeper spirituality. Taking a closer look at your personal reasons for showing up to the practice will keep you bringing back to your mat day after day.
For e.g.- my practice on the mat makes me better at other roles in my life, as a teacher, wife, daughter, sister. I feel peaceful and interact with others in a better way.

🪻Establish a routine –
Set aside a time of the day that works best for you to practice yoga. Designate a specific area in your home for yoga practice. Keep it clean, clutter free. It will create a sense of ritual and help commit to the practice.

🪻Set specific goals and track your progress -
It could be achieving a specific pose, improving flexibility or meditating for a certain duration. You can maintain a yoga journal recording your experiences, insights or document your progress that can serve as a reminder of how far you've come and motivate you to continue. Progress may not always be linear. Do not compare your progress with others. Celebrate each step forward, no matter how small.

🪻Sign up for a class –
To support your yoga journey, consider joining a local yoga studio or sign up for online classes for guidance, inspiration, and a sense of accountability.

🪻Be kind to yourself –
Yoga is a personal journey, and it's important to be compassionate with yourself. If you miss a day or have a less-than-ideal practice, let go of perfectionism and approach it with self-acceptance. Embrace the process and focus on the overall benefits that come from consistent effort.

🪻Cultivate mindfulness –
Practice conscious breathing, mindful eating, and being present in each moment.

What’s your motivation to practice yoga, let me know in the comments ✨

7 months of this prenatal journey together and never saw her not smiling and happy on the mat. Apparently, she even had a smile on her face when she was in labour, so much so that the doctor didn't even take her seriously when she was in pain lol.
I would ask her every time, Archna, how are you feeling today ? Did you sleep enough? Do you have any aches or pains and she would say no pain 🧿 I did this and that today and our chats would go for long after the sessions.
So happy to see this tiny human in your arms and more happier for Praveen in your life, who takes such good care of you both and is a doting father.

62 years old and inspirational !

Started in the seniors yoga online batch and graduated to beginners level in the 2nd month itself. Good example of what consistency and right guidance does to your body. Taking things at her pace, sure but seeing significant improvement in the way her body supports her now.
