An inspiring morning at Miranda House, interacting with some of the brightest young minds from SYNAPSE – The Zoology Society 💙
Spoke on “Cancer Uncovered: From Cellular Mutations to Modern Therapies”, and what truly stood out was not just their curiosity, but their depth of understanding about cancer biology.
It’s reassuring to see the next generation so aware, inquisitive, and eager to make a difference in healthcare and research. 🌱
Thank you to the wonderful students and faculty for such an engaging session, thoughtful questions, and warm hospitality.
The future of science is in good hands. ✨

In oncology, we often talk about advanced treatments. But sometimes, the most powerful medicine is prevention.
For kidney cancer, two of the biggest risk factors are completely avoidable — 🚭 Smoking ⚖️ Obesity
Not genetics. Not fate. Not bad luck.
Choices we make every day quietly shape our risk.
Smoking exposes the kidneys to harmful toxins that filter through the blood.
Excess weight alters hormones, increases inflammation, and puts constant stress on the body.
The good news? Quitting smoking and maintaining a healthy weight can significantly lower your risk.
Small steps. Daily walks. Better meals. One less cigarette.
These simple decisions today can protect years of life tomorrow.
Because prevention is always easier than treatment.

One of the easiest ways to love your colon?
Eat more fiber! 🥗 Fiber acts like a “broom” for your digestive system.
It’s ! 🛒 While no single food is a “magic bullet” against cancer, your diet is your most consistent tool for prevention.
My Top 3 Oncology-Approved Staples:
1️⃣ Cruciferous Veggies: Broccoli and cauliflower are like fuel for your detox enzymes.
2️⃣ Berries: Packed with antioxidants to protect your cells.
3️⃣ Beans & Lentils: High fiber = happy colon.
Which of these is already in your fridge? 🥦🍓

In the oncology world, we use the acronym CRAB to remember the main signs of Myeloma:
🦀 Calcium (high levels in the blood)
🦀 Renal (kidney issues)
🦀 Anemia (feeling very tired)
🦀 Bone pain (especially in the back or ribs)
If you’ve been feeling “off” and checking several of these boxes, it’s worth a simple blood test. Early detection changes the game!

Your kidneys are your body’s ultimate filtration system—they work hard behind the scenes 24/7. 🧼 But because they’re tucked away in your lower back, kidney issues can be “silent” until they’ve progressed.
If you notice persistent pain in your side that isn’t from a workout, or see a change in your urine color, don’t just “wait and see.” Most kidney masses are found incidentally during scans for other things—let’s be proactive instead!
