fever / fever:-

Salmonella typhi, Salmonella Paratyphi, Salmonella typhimurium and Salmonella enteritidis are responsible for Typhoid fever or Paratyphoid fever or other Salmonella infections.

Enters inside the human body through human's infected urine or faeces contaminated food or drinks. Other hosts are domestic animal's and bird's unsterilised meat, egg and milk.

Asymptomatic incubation period is about 14 days.

Continuous rise in temperature, vomiting, diarrhoea, red spots on the skin of the chest/ abdomen, enlargement of the spleen, other infections of the respiratory tract, urinary tract, biliary tract, abdominal pain, dehydration and electrolyte imbalance are the clinical features may be seen after 10 to 14 days of incubation.

After about 10 days of incubation widal test / Typhidot test may be reactive. Widal peak titres >/= 1:80 will be seen by the end of the 21 days.

Uncomplicated recovery takes place in about 35 days where as complications may become an individual into chronic carrier.
